Which OIL recommended for the B16b

main reason for oil going dark is overfuelling, you on aftermarkey ECU JUGBUGZ?

Really? Yeah my J's Racing ECU runs richer than my stock ecu according to the dyno.

Another thing is, I slightly over-filled it according to the dip-stick. Even until the change, I was hoping it would burn away, but it didn't:(

Any disadvantages for over topping with oil?

i m using motul htech 100plus 5w-30 on my b16a

been using ever since i got my ride. very good oil

btw, i m from malaysia. its freaking hot here all the time except @ nite

You should use 5W-40. The 40 is better for hot countries, keeps your engine more protected when quite hot.

While he did say it was not necessary...be wary of that context. Irregardless, I think most of us do fall into that category....where the majority of our mileage is due to daily driving.

However, if you intend to or have a tendency to drive on the track or very hard on a daily basis... Spoon uses Motul for a reason and NOT the factory blended oils for competition applications.

yeah thats true, but I think he reccommended it if you just use your car daily and tracking 2-3 times a year. For racing, quality oil is better.

ohh.. 5w40 eh..

cos my mech only bring in tis oil. apparently tis oil is widely use here..

or other brands with this quality.

5W-30 is the standard for all weather use around the world. The colder countries benefit with a lower 'W' and hotter countries benefit more with 40. If you race and track your car, I suggest 5W-40.

alrite bro
will keep tat in my mind )

Some say it's prone to blowing seals...but I wouldn't worry about it...but if you do, just pop the oil filter off and the mess that comes out of it is enough to lower the level back down to normal...unless you drastically overfilled it! :p

FWIW, I never knew how freaking how it could get in Asia till I spent my first summer here .... I hate here...I swear the cars themselves would sweat if they could... a 10W40 weight oil is definitely something I would use.

RagingAngel: you in Asia? Where abouts? I thought you in US? lol

Man, tropical countries suck. I hate hot weather. Not good for cars, food, relaxation, everything! You also get a lot of **** on your face from humidity.

Last time I was in Malaysia, It was 3am while we were driving through the country side, I was waiting for the humidity and heat to go down like every half hour, 3:30, 4am, 4:30, 5am until the sun came up. It just doesn't cool down there. I was like wtf? AIRCON is on like 24/7, you cant live without it.

anyway, cars there definitely need CAI. And I think I need to drain some oil.

oh kool jugbugz u been here to kl b4?

ehh.. izzit tat HOT over here even at nite?

mebbe i m used to it. but later in the nite like 12am - 6am.. its really a cooling time :p

I'm currently in Hong Kong....which I (un)affectionally refer to the "dirty hotness"

The pollution, the heat...yeah... I think you get the idea.

AirCon 24/7 here during the summer or you've got problems and bad circulation. I sweat like a savage and I'm no fat kid.

I think that's why the chicks here so f'Ugly...the humidity. pollution and sweats make sh1t grow all weird. Tis my living hell...

LOL Thats some funny **** man. I'd like to go there one day, just heard that you get ripped off a lot if you don't speak their language. Bargaining power hehehe.

i am running helix 5/40w fully synthetic in my 99 ek9 that has covered 76000miles, is this ok cos im not really too sure?,she seems 2 run sweet. people have told me that its best to swap over to a 10/40w semi synthetic after the engine has covered that many miles???

stick with the fluid that is giving you good results. There's no need to go for anything different unless you track your car or notice increased oil consumption.

Liquid Viscosity is bascally how runny/thick it is.

High Viscosity means thicker
Low Viscosity means thinner

Thicker oil, more resistance, engine works harder
Thinner oil, less resistance, more power

Thicker oil is only used in BIG HP cars and 70-80s cars for extra protection.
Thinner is for High Revving 4cyl.

First number means viscosity when COLD
Second number means Viscosity when HOT
(Oil normally becomes thinner as it gets hot, but dont forget it has additives to counter that)

All explained by Castrol

Thats why I think, nothing is better than 0W-40 or 0W-30. With these oils, you can drive off without having the warm up your car, because of its thin state when cold.

So guys, you dont need to think too much of the brand, when viscosity is the most important
