I think you have the specs swapped? The pro is the higher end model but you have it listed with lower end parts????

Yeah, I think blinx is right. I'd go with the pro! But if I had the monies I'd get an iMac :-D.

no they are the right specs guys

already bought a pro with 4 gb ram upgrade .

Maybe I should bought a toda manifold and exhaust Instead lol

ahhh well it's something that I'll have for a long time

Is it just me or are the spec's pretty poor for those, especially for the tin they're costing?

yea there not that great but the same spec pc or laptop thats windows based wouldnt last a month with the programmes i use

I use a new macbook pro as my secondary design machine (Photoshop, Illustrator...).

Absolute beast, love it. :D

What operating system have these got as not windows?

Thanks rvm. Are windows based programs compatible with this operating system?

Nope not as it comes. You can however install windows on it as well (XP, Vista, 7) and choose which system to boot.

IMO that is what make the mac so great though, the OS. Solid as a rock. :D

Sounds good.

there better in every way

also mac's cant get viruses

There is no viruses since they only share like a 2 % of the market, so why make viruses for the 2% of the market?

:p

I'm sorry but I'm gonna throw my polite thing out the window for a bit:

That is one of the dumbest things I've read in a while. They can get viruses, there are anti-virus programs for Mac and Apple actually suggests you install one.

And they aren't better in every way. Not by a long shot. There are many and I mean MANY ways in which they suck huge donkey balls. I don't feel like listing them all but the major ones are that they are too proprietary, not compatible with most ****, and despite what people like to say, they actually are NOT very user friendly for newbies. A lot of things aren't very intuative and just don't make sense. I had a girl in one of my classes that came to me to borrow my laptop for a few minutes. I asked her why because she had her own Macbook. She stated that she couldn't figure the damn thing out.

And an example for a combo of issues. I was trying to setup my brother's wireless network and he's a frickin Mac snob. But apparently despite Macs' supposed superiority, he can't figure out how to set his **** up:

Windows, you would install the device, install the driver and Windows would immediately autoscan for a wireless network once the device is recognized, you bring the list up of networks in range, select one, input the password if applicable. Done.

Mac (with a 3rd party wireless adapter), since Apple are so stuck up, they have zero built in support for 3rd party wireless adapters. They want you to use their Airport ****. So install the software/drivers. Go into the network settings (and there's no control panel thing it's linked to, retarded if you ask me). Go through some new network setup wizard that shouldn't even exist and create the new network. BUT, there's no option for wireless other than the Apple Airport. Why? again apple only wants you to use their ****. So you have to set up a new ethernet network (the software has to trick OSX into thinking the wireless adapter is a wired ethernet adapter). Enter some bullshit. Then go into the software that has it's own wireless scanner. Scan, find your network, enter password. next cuss a holler at the damn thing cause the **** still ain't working cause for some damn reason a connection still isn't establishing. Finally after checking the Windows laptop for the umpteenth time making sure the wireless router is working (and it damn sure is cause Windows ain't having a lick of trouble connecting), it connects and you have internet access. Awesome.

Yeah so Macs can suck it. If you don't have your head stuck so far up your ass that you need a glass stomach to see, Windows is pretty damn easy to use and maintain. Plus the upgrade options are far better since PC's are designed to be modular.

Another rant by me, I know. Just remember, I hate Macs (but moreso, I hate Mac snobs except my brother cause I'm required to love him), I hate MW2. Be prepared for my rants.

you need to chill out

just because the mac users you meet are all brain dead doesnt mean that nobody knows how to use them

also i never have any trouble setting up a wireless network on my iphone so not sure were your coming from

The point I was making was Apple is too proprietary and not very user friendly in some areas. You have to do a bunch of roundabout **** to make a 3rd party wireless adapter work while in Windows or even in Ubuntu, it's pretty straightforward. Your iPhone has a built in adapter. That ****'s all fine and dandy because Apple made it. But if you own a Mac desktop and buy a 3rd party adapter your gonna have a bitch of a time setting it up. And besides, your talking about a damn phone and not a computer. I'm talking about Mac's computer hardware and their OSX being ass backward retarded.

And I won't chill out with Mac snobs, particularly ones who say stupid **** like they never get viruses.

I'm gonna leave a quote from a guy who knows his ****. This was in response to a thread in which there was somebody asking about Macbooks and made a similar stupid statement:

As a Mac user (professional, only, not at home for playing), there are two reasons to purchase a Mac:

Inter-office working standards
Graphics Publishing/Graphic Design (for work)

If you're not going to be doing some kind of work on a Mac, and only want to play on the internet/download music, etc... save your money and get a nice laptop, like a Toshiba with a nice, big screen and Windows 7.

I'm more Pro-Mac than almost anyone that I know, and I still will not push a Mac on someone that doesn't want to do what a good PC would handle with ease (their email, browsing, music, etc...)

Macs are great for people that utilize them, but in the hands of your typical Starbucks-drinking college kid - they're a waste... Get a PC.

As you can well figure out, I'm not a fan of Macs. But I agree with him on the professional bit. I think Macs are actually pretty nice for Graphic, Video, and Audio work, but if you aren't doing any of those, then they are pointless. Even then, you can do the same stuff on a PC but resources for graphic, video, and audio work are more readily available for Mac it seems.

Wow it's the classic Mac vs PC debate.

TBH we could go on forever here. At the end of the day each system has their advantages and disadvantages.

Not sure where your coming from with the network thing. I've had several Mac's (and PC's before I get called a mac snob) throughout the ages and have never had any Issues with connecting wifi/networks/routers... it just simply works!

Are you people ignoring the 3rd party part? Apple doesn't like you using 3rd party stuff so they make it hard to use anything but their stuff. It doesn't just work.

I'm not trying to start a Mac vs PC debate, just trying erase the Mac ignorance. My brother is a Mac snob but at the same time, he does Audio work on them so he actually halfway justifies his ownership of them (half way because he only does it on one of the three he has now).

Go ahead and get a Mac if you've actually done the research and your intended use warrants it. If you going to buy one to dick around on the internet and listen music, save your money and buy a cheaper Windows machine. That way you can dick around on the internet AND play games if you so choose.

Seriously, I paid $950 (661 Euro) for my laptop which is spec'd higher than those Macs and that was almost a year ago. 2.2GHz Turion X2 RM-74, 4GB of RAM, 400GB HDD, ATI Radeon HD3200, Blu-Ray/DVD-burner combo drive, 17" screen.

Don't waste your money on a Mac based on myths.
