Spoon stroker kit

hmm, I can get stuff locally from Japan. New OEM ITR crank 66700yen which equates to about 500USD. I got this quotation for my friends friend.

Anyone want to ship me a spoon stroker kit from the us?:D Plz...

can you just put the parts in and off you go or do u need a ecu and to get it remapped???

you'll need a 98,99 or 00 jdm integra type r ecu ,or you could get a spoon teg ecu or some sort of aftermarket ecu

By stroking the engine with this spoon kit does the the ek9 lose any of it's 'specialness' (lol).

What kind of gains are you looking at with this kit?

In my opinion it does'nt make it any less special lol but it gives it slightly higher compression and better low down torque about 15-20 lb.ft which does'nt seem alot but is on the road ,also people who stroke ek9's tend to say it feels as if it looses a bit of the aggressive nature of the b16b it does'nt rev as aggressively if you know what i mean

thats because the power is more linear throughout rev range on a 1.8L. Thats normal for a higher displacement engine, K20As also doesn't kick in hard at all. But so what, you'll be smiling more when you start pulling away from your friends 1.6L

i can see if one of our distributors ships internationally, do they not sell it in ireland?

Yeah if you could please blinx? They sell over here alright but it's very pricey:angry:

I've seen an ek9 with a spoon stroker kit in action before and it was unbelievable:woot:

this is just a thought, but ive recently discovered a company who sells a stroker crank and rods for $550!!! you can use your stock pistons or forged units an have a 1.8!! the company is eagle and the parts are very good, ive seen them used up to 600whp the crank and rods are forged and it puts in the same spec as a b18c :nice:

Hmmmm, whats your opinion of durability using this parts? a lot of racers here with modified motors for circuit race only, don't use this kind of setups because they lack of durability, the only stroker kit that had lasted with non "oem honda" stuff (crankshaft specially) is the TODA one.

Crower and Eagle, here is very common to see them in drag racing cars, but for circuit racing no, specially the crankshaft.

For example, 80% + the b20 setups here that are used for circuit racing, they use b18c jdm itr crankshaft + 84.5 mm pistons (wiseco mostly) + carrillo rods, all the eagle, crower, and other brands crankshafts have had a engine damage or something. I really don't think any of this brands are "bad" but for I had saw here at the track, they lack of durability, the source of the problem might be; not properly tuned motors, or the rev limit set to high. Maybe you can tell me of success circuit racing stories using this brands stuff internally.

I plan in a future to build a b20 motor, and now in my mind I plan to use a b18c crankshaft + wiseco pistons.

:nice:

rvm stock b18c crank IS much more durable in my opinion when compared to eagle, i have seen factory b18c crank on 1200whp car, but eagle cant handle that, the only benefit is the price, i havent heard of any failures, but most of the people use the eagle stuff for drag.

a 2.0 vtec using stock b18c crank and 84mm bore should be perfect as long as everything is balanced and blueprinted :nice: my friend had a similar set up and he loved it:

dart sleeves
84mm bore
b18c crank
probe pistons
crower rods
fully balanced and blue printed
ACL bearings

he revved it to 9000rpm and it was turbocharged making 500whp!!

Eagle is known for cheap parts for V8 cars especially drag but for roadracing i don't trust any American made brand except maybe for JG & Crower, talking about this stuff reminds me of my days as a car tuner, American muscle cars like the Camaro, Mustang & Barracuda's piqued my interest in dragracing then i moved on to small but efficient sport compact cars before ending up with motorcycles.

trust the japanese to build very reliable parts for their own cars & you can say the same with the americans & the europeans, each have their own specialty but only a few have crossed over & have become very successful.

thats funny cause JG is one of the worse companies in the world and the guy is an *******, he makes retainers out of steel and sells them as "titanium" then people wonder why they drop a valve, and in case you havent noticed there are A LOT of good american brands:

Eibach-makes some of the best springs/coilovers in the world
Edelbrock-makes one of the best headers and intake manifolds for b series
Full Race-makes some of the nicest turbo kits for hondas
AEM- makes one of the best intakes AND engine management systems
Hasport-makes some of the best engine mounts
Innovative- makes some of the best electronics like a/f monitoring
ASR-best subframe brace
beaks-pioneered the subfram brace
SPC-exellent suspension components
skunk2-we all know what they do
CP-pistons
ross-pistons
wiseco-pistons
BC-excellent cams
EM racing-great suspension components
etc
etc
etc
etc

i would think twice next time i talk bad about american companies, they make excellent parts and sell them for a more reasonable price when compared to japanese counterparts.

lets not forget where the most powerful civic is, yes its in america, built by americans, tuned by americans, with A LOT of american parts and it has 1200whp!

im not saying america is the best or anything, just that there are A LOT of really good american companies with great produces and quality control.

I want that setup in my future EJ6

i'm sorry if i offended you in anyway, accept my apologies, i didn't know JG was dealing fraudulently, a decade ago they were the bomb but now times has changed & they have strayed off the path.

as for retainers i'll stick with the original steel retainers for street use, titanium may have a higher strength to weight ratio but it doesn't have the durabililty (fatigue strength) of steel when it comes to higher spring loads.

all good :nice: i just get jumpy sometimes :) yeah JG was cool a long time ago, but even back then we was a little wishy washy with people that werent his friends, he offered to build motors for us many times, we always refused. i like stock retainers as well, titanium is good, but it does need to be monitored and replaced when needed, definately does not have longevity.
