Hello and welcome to my build thread.

I never thought I would have enough work done to the nine to warrant a build thread but here it is!

I bought the beauty in October 2010 and it was awesome! It felt great to be back in a nice car which had some poke and handled like a dream.

Here’s how it looked

One thing was really bugging me as I saw it every time I got in and out the car. It was the missing piece of plastic from the top of the gaiter. Soon got that sorted with a trip to the eBay.

After xmas I was thinking about changing or modding the air intake. Before I could decide what to do Livvy had a Top Fuel whale intake for cheap so I snapped that up straight away! Also sorted a CAF for it to.

The nine came with PIAA HID’s which was a nice bonus but the wiring was a complete mess! A lot of it was just wedged under the old air box. After about a day I was finally done.

Having only owned the nine for a few months and even though I had kept the driving down to a minimum over the winter the dreaded tin worm had worked its way in!

So I made my way to a local body repair shop for a quote on the rusty arches. After letting the guy have a look round the car he noticed a lot of other problems with the paint work. There was filler on the inside lip of the arch, there where micro dots in the paint (Trapped moister under paint), rough edges around the windows from masking and overall it didn’t look that great.

So after getting a quote I had to save up for a few months before I could get it sorted. I was hoping to get the work done before Japfest but they where too busy!

While I was at Japfest I bought myself some treats. A new Oil filler cap and a Carbon plug cover.

Anyway here are some pictures of the work I had done over the last 3-4 weeks to get the paint and body sorted.

He found that there was a lot of filler used and most of it for no reason!

2k paint was used and it went on a treat!

As both bumpers had the odd mark they got a new lick of paint for no extra cost! He also said he could underseal/Shutz the rear arches and along both sills with 3M Shutz. The lip would also get some treatment to protect against the stone chips.

The day finally came for it to be collected! Monday 13th June to be exact! This is how it looked. It was painful not having driven the nine for soo long but was totally worth it!

I figured after having so much work done that I would try to keep it looking good for as long as possible. So I managed to get hold of a set of front mud flaps courtesy of Boyle.

Won’t be spending any money for a while now but I still have a few plans for some small mods but I’m not going to go to mad.

Plans:
New Type R decals
Re-furb rusty wiper arms
New Rocker cover nuts
Solenoid cover (Bought not fitted yet)
Thermal Intake gasket (Bought not fitted yet)
Fit C-pillar brace
Finish repairing carbon fibre spoiler base plate and finally fit it!

That’s it for now but hopefully will keep the updates regular enough and add any more plans that might crop up.

Thanks for reading, all comments welcome!

Very Clean EK9 Now! good work. Look forward to seeing more updates :nice:

Thanks guys!

I've never had this much work done to a car before and it's really nice to have something that is now totally mint!

I will be keeping and enjoying the nine for a good few years to come. :D

awesome man, car looks perfect now.
as you say its just a case of being careful and looking after her now.
MINT :nice:
the C pillar you bought of jimbo, he bought from me... funny how parts do the rounds. :)

Hey rob, Sorry to see it had some dreaded tin worm last thing you want to see... Looks fantastic with the new layer of paint though, brand new near enough!! Bet your chuffed

Looks very clean :)

car looks brilliant mate :) nice to see u spending the money to get it properly detailed :)

Topher: I'm almost too scared to drive it the way I used to! That's crazy about the pillar brace. I wonder where it will get to next?

Banana: I had to have a think and decide wether to sell it as it was or get the work done. I figured that I would loose out either way so bit the bullet and got it sorted. I'm really glad I did now as it looks so good and I know the work has been done properly.

Jordan101: Thanks fella. It's easily one of the biggest bills I've had for a motor!

Kipper: Cheers fella. We got to keep these little gems looking good.

Rambo: thanks again mate. I did get some new hard wax for it so I'll be keeping on top of it. The guy who done the work also waxed it for me and used 3M Boat Wax! :naughty:

Mov: Thanks for the kind words buddy. I think it's turned out better than I could of imagined!

Looking really good mate. Noticed you have the mud flaps on

You at Mimms next week?

I really needed the flaps as they re surfaced the road I live on and left all the loose stones on the top! Even after a couple of years there is still tones of them. Thanks again for sending them promptly, your a life saver!

I really want to get to mimms but I think I'm going to have to see what dollar I've got left by then but I am hopeful and I was bout to stick my name down on the list. :))

Cheers Matt. Yeah not surprised! :)) I will be motoring about in it a hell of a lot more now I'm not worried about the rust getting any worse!

I'll defo give you a shout man. Will be nice to see your jazzy parts! Also not seen your motor round town for agees!

Smoky: I just mailed people on ebay braking Hondas asking for the part that finishes the top of the gear gaiter and finally got a result. Cost me a bloody fiver tho!
