Oil advice and recommendations here!

stick with wako's they are well known in japan for being the best for race cars like the ek9

Hi folks,

With winter here and plenty of cold starts, perhaps it's time to consider changing the oil that you use in your car.

Does your antifreeze need changing?
Is your gearshift okay when cold?
Do you need something to protect your car from the weather?

We have free delivery to UK mainland for orders over £40 at the moment so it is a good time to order from opieoils.co.uk

Let us know if you need any advice, we are here to help. You can call us on 01209 202944, email us at sales@opieoils.co.uk, or just ask here.

Cheers

Opie my man what oil do you recommend for a high compression b20?

Ta

Hi

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives. If it's used on track or you just want the best, go for one of the better ones I listed.

The most experianced b20 builder in the country told me 10-40.

For protection/performance vs money the Millers CFS is hard to beat , great stuff :nice:

10w-40 is fine as a cheaper option, but unless there is piston slap, I'd go for a 5w-40 to take advantage of the better cold start protection.

Good advice, especially in this cold weather. Do you recommend semi or fully 5/40 on a b16b with 80k miles. I dont know what the previous owner has been running it on.

Dan

Hi Dan

Synthetic ideally, but a 5w-40 semi is a better option than a 10w-40 semi. All the ones I mentioned above are synthetics.

Hi Tim sorry to jump in on this conversation.
I've got nearly 10L of Castrol Edge at home, that was being used by are race team which is 0w-30 and was wondering if that would be fine in my b16a2 for daily use with abit of track work?
Just worried its going to be abit thin.
Tom.

Hi Tom

It's fine to use, but it's likely to burn off quite quickly as it's quite thin.

thinking about getting fuchs oil again,

which oil do you recommened for a b18c ek9 wont be used to track until march ?

i think it was the 10w-40 i had last time.

it does'nt have to be the fuchs. what would you recommend ?

Thanks Tim.
Thought it would be. I'll swap to 0w-40, 5w-40 when I've run out of Castrol no point in wasting it.

A 5w-40 like I recommended a few posts above would be ideal, but a 10w-40 would be fine as a cheaper alternative

I would either go for the Fuchs Syn MC, Shell Helix, Millers XSS or Motul 6100 out of the cheaper 10w-40s

10w-40 car engine oil | 10w40 oil
