Jesse888 Forged/stroker turbo ek9

So progress!!
Buddy came round and we got the rear quarter windows in.

And quick pic of the door pull in action

Got the interior in!!

Anyone who has ran a turbocharged track car will know that blown gaskets are a nightmare!
My solution is locking cam washers and I threw in a a set of cap head bolts because I'm a scene prick, looks far better for it.

Bay shot, filthy as usual...

Got my tuning gear in and ready to roll soon as I get a 2.5" pipe joiner for my intercooler.

Have an acceptable cold start and idle and I can rev it stationary and the AFRs stay in check. So that's as far as I've got with the tune and need parts really.

Cheers Mike.
Coming together now! Can't wait to rip some boost into it!

Css block going to be insane!
2000hp between you, me, Matt and Marc?...

Good to see some functional crime in that bay! Loving the gypo door handles!

So I've been busy.
I've got a very conservative tune on the car. It's running 0.5bar boost and revs right up to 8800 with slightly rich air-fuel ratios. I've done this because I'm not overly confident in the accuracy of the aem wideband.
All seems to be going well except for two issues. The first being that the engine runs really lean after a warm start (only on idle) I think I've got this figured out but won't know until I get time to sort it.
The 2nd issue is that when I try and use the wideband to replace the stock 02 sensor it all goes very rich. This issue may be abit more in depth and may result in me having to tune the whole of both fuel maps again. No big deal as it's all learning isn't it....
Very happy with the progress I've made this week. Feel like I've learnt a lot and I'm gaining confidence In my tuning ability everytime I take the car out. My issues are fairly advanced (well the lambda issue may be) So thats got to be good that I've not messed up anything trivial.
I've wired my knock monitor into the car. This allows me a few more functions, my favourite being this knock vs rpm graph. For those interested the dotted line represents the "noise" the knock sensor picks up on an average 2000-9000rpm pull. The solid line is the threshold for which I've set the monitor to alarm if the "noise" peaks over.

As for the rest of the car....
Had an oil leak today from the oil pressure line to the stack gauge. Means I've had to bodge that with abit of welding for now so I'm not running a pressure gauge atm.
The exterior paintwork is in a state, my DA and Maguires ultimate compound won't even touch half of it! For this reason I'm a little ashamed to show you guys the car in this state. It's OK from 10 paces so your all going to have to stand 10 yards from the car lol.

Hiesenburg is coming over tomorrow with more squids to paint the doors and touch up a few bits inside the car. Will also fit my doorcard and see if I can bring the quality of the paint work up abit.

Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your car on Sunday!
Any track time for you?

Although I'm confident the tune is good enough I'm along way from home.
Also have a sticky rear caliper I found whilst I was tuning.
Hoping to get out to brands in may, I can then just do a few laps and datalog it to be sure it's OK.

Ah fair enough, I'm bringing a wind back tool to Japfest if you have problems. Also some blankers just incase.

So, it's kind of hard to update this with what I'm doing currently.
Made it to japfest, here's a few snaps of mine courtesy of saqib.

Had a good time and was nice to meet up with members of the forum both old and new. Looking forward to the next meet!

I got myself a timing light so I could reliably tune the ignition timing on my car. I purposely retarded the distributor awhile ago on track, can't remember why I did that but I did lol

So with the timing set back to a solid 16 degrees I set about tuning the car some more. Here's a sneak peak of the tune a few stages back.

I'm finally started to get the hang of this knock monitor and the confidence to push the timing limits is coming to me, the car is MUCH more eager to drive after today's tuning and I'd not be surprised to have picked up 15-20hp across the board at the same boost level I was running at japfest. Here's another monitor shot

So I'll be further pushing the timing in the next few days(weather permitting) and then it's more boost after that!
The car has some go for such low boost, I'm very impressed with the gtx turbo and it's response is something else!

Looking good Jesse, Very impressed.

Thanks Sam. Still learning a lot everytime I tune but it's getting easier.
Alot more relaxed about making adjustments to the tune now so that's good.
Need to get it too a dyno really just to see where it's at.

It's great what you're doing, very jealous as I'd love to learn how to tune. Maybe one day.
Really enjoying seeing your progress.
I know you can book eurospecs dyno for your own use.
I suppose they must have to teach you how to operate it? Shouldn't think you'd have any trouble.

I'll ask eurospec if I can borrow the dyno at a later date when I'm further down the tune.
They can also teach me how to use it as you say.
