If you have coilovers, have you had them set up by a garage or have you done it yourself?

I am picking my coilovers up on Tuesday and I am going to fit them myself.

But...the garage I have spoken to about setting them up said they will only do tracking, camber and toe adjustments and not height.

Not so much of a problem for me, as I will set the height of mine anyway.

Is there anything else that needs doing in order to set up coilovers, or is it / can it be as straight forward as taking them from the box, fitting them and driving without problems?

Hmm, which garage was it dude.. a well known one?
When I fitted coilovers to my old car, they were pretty straight forward to do really. The only problem was, the camber being slightly out.
So I set the ride height to what I wanted etc and took it down to one of the Wheels in motion branches.

They're basically Thee suspension gurus with didicated branches all over the UK. I'd recommend anyone fitting coilovers or interested in suspension setups etc to register on their forum and have a look at some threads and speak to members on there. They're really helpful, and you get to find out which suspension garages are actually "specialists" and which ones are crap.
Once WIM (Drury Lane Branch) worked their magic on my car, I just spent around a month or so experimenting with different dampening settings to find out what worked best for my style of driving. Hope that helps:nice:

Cheers for the info.

Yea, the garage I went to and asked was Protyre Gupa P in Plymouth.

I thought they would have done summat to help, but no. :(

i ALWAYS install my own suspension parts, its the funnest thing for me!!! i do everything except the camber and toe, i leave that to my friend as he has the experience and tools to set it up properly, but i do all the install, height, and damping adjustments...

Sounds good to me.

I usually do everything myself so I know it is done properly and nothing is missed or done half assed.

I hope things go well on Tuesday! lol

Will keep you posted.

A mate said that I should set the coilovers to the same height as the standard shocks and then lowed each corner the same.

Seems like a good idea and rather simple.

Blinx9900 do you balance your car also? if yes please share some information :nice:

you mean corner balance? no we dont have the scales :(

Boozer_Matt i suggest if you do adjust height right away adjust it a little bit high as the springs will settle in about 24-48 hours...
