this may sound stupid, but my friend does it on a daily basis on his honda odyssey LOL. is flooring your car bad (from a 0 mph start) because it lets in a bunch of oxygen and the fuel injectors can't keep up so the a/f ratio is messed up? sorry i'm still quite noob at cars, but hey i'm learning :nice:

no thats not the reason. well i dont think flooring the car is that bad but it has a few problems:

-puts pressure on the transmission (assuming its an automatic) and will lead to premature wear.
-burns A LOT of fuel.
-wears out tires faster.
-wears out engine faster (assuming he's revving it up higher than normal)

and its bad if your in the wrong gear?

say like 30mph in 4th and you floor it. am I right in thinking that

low rpm and high load are never a good mix, which is exactly what your doing in 4th gear at 30mph... but if its an auto id worry about the trans more than anything else...

I have a habbit of shifting up into 5th when I'm doing 40mph... Is that bad? Just the Spoon N1 gets a little loud for cruising in lower gears!

thats fine i do the same, its different for us cause we have super short gears. :nice:

Oh right, I've read the thread again so I misunderstood it the first time. He's on about flooring it in 5th while doing 40mph! lol. I wouldn't bother, the pedal would go down, the noise would go up, but the car wouldn't accelerate! :D
