Who drives an Evo or has owned one?

My dad use to have an Evo 7 and then sold it. Then later he got an Evo 8 fq340 and it was fast as.. and now I'm itching to get an Evo! Want one so bad, seen a few decent Evo 8's with around 400bhp for good money.

How much does it cost owning and running one compared to a general type r?

Mot, service, petrol costs etc...

I've had 2, a 6 and a 8 and my dad also maintanins evo rally cars. I found that running the evos were the same as the ek9 when the evos were around 300bhp. The more hp the more its gona cost to run and maintain, but 400 odd bhp should still be ok to run as the evo 7 and up have 6 speed boxes which helps. Servicing can vary as pads for eg can cost from £80 and up.. The ones I used cost £300 for front and back but they were the sh!t doing donuts can damage the transfer box and diffs depending on road conditions, second hand transfer box can cost around 700... If u have the money but a 9, brilliant cars to drive. Stay away from 7's if possible.. Hope this helps.

i had an Evo 5, was absolutely awesome but a bit "too good". nothing to really tinker with and was very expensive to mod.

kind of felt like it was perfect just the way it was as standard...but i hate having a car that someone else has aswell.

...tax & insurance were both pricey and the fuel consumption was hideous. 14-18mpg :-o
