Which OIL recommended for the B16b

Hi

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

5w-40 engine oil | 5w40 oil

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Shell Helix, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

As a budget choice, a 10w-40 will be fine and I would either go for the Fuchs XTR, Shell Helix, Millers XSS or Motul 6100

10w-40 car engine oil | 10w40 oil

You need an MTF for the gearbox and I would go with the Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Fuchs Sintofluid. The Millers EP 75w-80 is a good cheaper alternative

75w-80 gear oil / 75w-85 gear oil / MTF / manual transmission fluid

Hello, can oilman or another one answer me please? after a few months i will change the oil brand and i want to know better options. always i used the recomended oil by honda (in spain), esso ultron 5w40 but this oil its out of the market yet. im thinking about 0w40, what do you think? temperatures always are betwen -5º/45º and my driving its quite sportive, usually 330km with one full tank of 98 ron petrol and only 1 or two track days per year.

thanks!

cheers.

Not ideal, type r engines like to run low viscosity oils, 5w-40 is perfect in most cases.

I can't say 3, but top 5 (in no order) would be the Fuchs Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition.

Cheers

depending on your climate, the best oil for the b16b will be the following:

20 W - 40 - Recommended for climates -10 C to 15 C
20 W - 50 - Recommended for climates between -10 C to 40 C +

5 W - 40 - Recommended for climates between: -30 C or less to 40 C +
10 W - 40 - Recommended for climates between: -20 C to 40 C +
10 W - 30 - Recommended for climates between: -20 C to 30-35 C
5 W - 30 - Recommended for climates between: - 30 C or less to 0 C

currently im using 10w40 ams oil (amo) and i think to switch to 5w30 ams oil signature series oil ...

but the oils recommended from honda looks little odd to me
as far as i know 5w stands for the cold start up and 30 stands when engine/oil is hot but hondas manual says 5w30 oil is good to temperatures between -30' till 0' celcious .

thats a little odd isnt it ??

yes a bit odd.....on my country before honda oil come with 15w/40....later they change to new pack come with 5w-30.....

0w40 is actually a good choice, it will be the same viscosity when warm as 10w40 and 5w40 ect but it will be slightly thinner from cold which is actually good to circulate the oil around the engine quickly and protect better from cold

The likes of 10w30 will not protect as well from cold and imo is too thin for such a high rev engine when warm that it will burn off faster than a w40 oil. Your geek honda mate is wrong lol

Will be even better to use 0w40 in the winter aswell!

Not a big fan of 0w oils as I found they tend to drain away into the sump to quickly . At least a 5w or 10w will sit around the engine a bit while parked up. Leaving a good coating on the components. Personally I would only use a 0w if the manufacturer specifically recommended it was needed.

Just my 2p.

I run 10w40 summer and 5w40 winter.
