Was wondering what is the best decat to buy for my b16a2? Am running a 5zigen 4,2,1 header spoon b pipe and a spoon n1 axle back. Have an adjustable decat at the minute but they seem to be very tinny when i reach 3000 rpm. Videos if possible thanks.

Custom with small resonator. Shouldnt cost much more than an off the shelf or ebay job.

If that doesn't work then I would say the silencers in your system are probably getting worn.

Follow this link and scroll down to the ek9/dc2 baffled decat that looks like the picture below.

I have used this decat on my ek9 and dc2's, they are great quality, perfect fit and stainless steel. They also look like a sports cat if you want to tell the MOT centre that

^^^^^^ They don't look great TBH. I bought my decat from Tegiwa Imports and was delighted with it................. Its just a pipe and nothing else, what more do you want, anything in there is only impeeding gas flow.

Erm but when it fails on emissions you look a right tit if you tell them that.

They are great quality trust me I have bought 2 now. He doesnt want a straight pipe type decat because they sound a lot louder and very raspy

Yes but I have put 4 Type-R Hondas through MOT with decats and all have passed emissions with no problems, so if it doesnt there is a lambda or fueling problem.

The only reason I mentioned MOT is that some testers will say that it needs to have a cat even if it does pass emissions with a decat

Does the first one fit OEM header EK4 and aftermarket exhaust (60mm OD)?

On the picture it seems to be different in and out diameter.

Been searching for this!

After a certain age it HAS to have a cat fitted whether it would pass emissions or not. My ex works for VOSA and it has to have one fitted. She tests the MOT testers before everyone says ' my mate is a mot tester and he says its ok'.

I second that. Just been on an mot course. Regardless of if it will pass an emissions test a car after a certain age (cant remember what age) has to have a cat fitted if it originally had one on it from factory. Which 99% of the time is the case.

But how can they tell if the decat looks like a cat? As far as I know they can't remove anything, so if it passes and looks like it has a cat there's bugger all they can do about it. BTW I love raspy sound so it's a straight pipe for me, and I just put the cat on for MOT.

Guess it comes down to how closely they look at it, they may tap it with something to see if it sounds different. There is a good possibilty that they wont actually notice the difference, especially the ones that look similar to cats, and as said above if the emissions fall below the threshold then it will probably get through anyway. Was just stating that from a road legal perspective after a certain age it needs to have one fitted.

Good point! I supose it depends on how clued up the tester is. I would say any mot tester worth anything should no the difference between a cat and a decat. For example a 10 year old ek9 with a dead shiny cat that ses something like 'tegiwa' on it im sure he would no it wasnt a proper cat plus most standard cats have heat shields on where as decats dont. And while were on the subject im not to keen on the decat rasp.
