whats the best air intake for a ek9??

I find this thread interesting as a newbie to the Vtec world.I have removed all the standard filter system on my VTI and running a cone K&N filter on the end of a alloy tube finishing were the stock filter was,but I`m thinking about putting the filter were the box was inside the wheel arch to reduce the charge temp, is this worth while as increasing the tract length might increase the charge speed as well, thoughts please..

you are probably losing bhp due to excessive heat soak with a short arm intake..

bring it down into the wheel arch for a good cold air feed but be careful around wet roads etc you dont want wet plugs hehe

ideally i would revert back to the oem airbox without resonators and a decent panel airfilter

best air intake can't be answered

agreed, why not try modding you're standard air box like most do and perhaps change the pannel filter then see what you think prob the cheapest way also :nice: i personally run a v2 and love it bout dont have a comparisson as my 9 came with some budget cone filter from japland

Can anyone put some pics of itr airbox in EK? i want to see how can i install this

Mugen airbox is really similar to the DC2 airbox, so my conclusion was that if mugen has designed the airbox similar to DC2, then the DC2 box must be a good base to start with.

IIRC the Mugen intake uses a K&N filter, so if a jdm company is using K&N then it must be good.

After reading reviews of the spoon filter, I have to say that im not so convinced on its performance, and am steering nearer to a K&N, even though its not "jdm".

I think most tuners have a function over form methodology, and sticking to one manufacturer is going to limit you to getting the best performing parts.
