Right basicly i'm going to be fitting a 4.9 final drive to my S4c LSD gear box in a week or so.

the gear box works perfectly fine no crunches or anything but what should i need to change part from oil seals while its open is there anything else that will defanatly need changing ?

cheers peeps :D

So just the bearings then ?

this a must get from honda or can i just go into any bearing shop and buy them there ? if i get the sime size ?

Hi lad, Ul prob get a full set of bearings "kit" on eBay.. Honda will rip u off.. Bearings and seals would be a good start, then wen box is open have a wee look at da gears but they should b good nuf.. Wat is in ur box a 4.4 final drive??

Exact, as eamon said, buy a non OEM seal and bearing kit. With good quality pieces (branded), not these chinese seals and bearings...
Because Honda will be expensive for the bearings part.

As he said, once gearbox it's open inspect all. Use the users manual. Very important inspecting gears, and synchros.

Here we go=

Differential bearings:
PFKL1002643 (x2)

Differential seals:
PFKL1006630
PFKL1006620

Mainshaft bearings:
PFKL1002412
PFKL1001961

Mainshaft seal:
PFKL1007416

Countershaft bearings:
PFKL1002174 (I am not sure, it could be PFKL1005020 )
PFKL1004850

ok cheers, do i have to get these from honda or can i get them bearings from a special bearing company like directly from NTN ?

just noticed i cant get those references on hondaparts.

bugger so ek4 gearbox has different bearings.

It defo worth doing the bearings though ? like all of them ? not just better taking apart and only replacing the ones with excessive play ?

Hii, excuse me for the delay, I noticed your answer just now...

These are references from Honda. Yes, you could get these from a bearing suppler as soon as you have the correct sizes, and the specifications of every bearing are the same than the OEM ones. For example, max. revolutions per minute, max. temperature for proper working of the bearing, etc.

There are some pages one internet that sell "packs", of just seals, or seals+bearings, or seals+bearings+synchros. And as you say, they use non OEM material, but with the same specifications and choosing items from good manufacturers.

I don't know if in the UK, or even in Europe we can find some of these suppliers, but in the USA there are some.

If you have the workshop manual, and can do the proper measurements with the required tools, yes it would be better that you disassemble the gearbox and inspect every part. Then, as you pointed, just have to change the necessary parts.
It is like I do with my boxes.

:D

i will be doing that then. i think there is one of the bearings that has a groove for a clip or somthing aparently honda only for that...
