I'm living and from Ireland and have just got my degree in Automotive Management and Technology but there are no jobs over here in Ireland.

I am looking into moving to Birmingham because Birmingham sells more cars a year than the whole of Ireland does.

So, with the motor trade basically dead in Ireland I'm just wondering how you guys in England are doing and is there many jobs etc?

We've been quite busy, and looking for more techs to take on in nottingham tho

fleet sales has been boring for the last year and half.. when i got my job

We are having our ups and downs, Last week was mental busy but so far this week its been pretty slow.

Im confused as to wich sector of the trade your reffering to? Repair & maintenence or sales & retail?

As far as the 2nd hand sector, The motor trade in england is definetly not as consistant as it once was, we are finding that some weeks are dead. Others not so (10 cars on a week is amazing for us now where as a few years ago we were slogging that evry week).

The motor trade is certainly not "Dead" but in comparison to lets say 6+ years ago it certainly isnt what it was. People are generaly holding on to what they have for as long as they can. I know the new car sales are struggeling in our area. However the large companies like arnold clark usualy have a large turnover of staff so id imagine you wouldnt struggle to find a job with them. But these days who knows.

Hope this helps slightly mate :nice:

Thanks for the replies, I'd be looking for a job as a manager more so than anything else, but I'm aware you have to start at the bottom and work your way up :)
So I'm referring to the sales and retail side of things.

Do you guys know any sites or garages that I could start looking into, I've been through Google but I am unaware of the names of dealerships or websites for finding jobs in this area so I'm pretty clueless at the moment :)
