I have been looking for an ek9 for a while for the misses, but it seems hard to find one for the right price. So we set out saturday from southwales, up to leeds to view a silver 9 up in leeds. Thought we'd be a bit different as there aren't many around. So travelled 5hours up to leeds in my little crx. Got there and te car wasn't outside so we text the guy as we drove back round the block and as we got back the car was then outside. Which seemed like a bad sign straight away. But it looked stunning, as i looked around it a few things didnt seem right like laquar runs on the door, door and wing different colour to rear 1/4. Looked under the bonnet and it looked nice with the 4-2-1 jasma stamped manifold, sk2 inlet, blox throttle body and aem long arm. But noticed te front panel had been welded which put me off even more. But none the less took it for a spin and it pulled well, and sounded great. But when we got back i was still umming and arring, so i looked underneath and the lca bolts were snapped, the passanger reear arch was full of filler and sanding marks. So that was it i wasn't going to buy it, too many things wrong with.

So we pulled over to try and find another one local as we had travelled so far. So found one on piston heads in middlesex and my great geographical knowledge thought it wasn't far away, couldn't have been more wrong, so down to london we went to view another.

With no phone chargers, using our phones as sat navs we had 10% left and 20% left it was a struggle but we made it. And when we got there the car was spot on, few little parking dents which i expected. Took it for a spin and drove very well for a standard example. So we talked cash, and done a deal and he let us charge our phones and use the laptop to sort out temp cover. So started driving back and the misses was tired so we pulled over and stayed in a premier inn. Next day got back home and a few of the boys were going for a mountain run, so what better way to test out a new car? So more driving, car handles amazing, but back end is very very happy, but i'm going to blame that on the 'kingstar' budgets on the rear, and then the clutch started slipping :( so a job for next weekend. But all in all i love it.

So here it is, after near enough 1,000 miles of driving, and about 35hours later, our completly standard prefacelift ek9. 133km (83,000miles)

looks really nice mate, good buy

the silver one that you viewed was that from bradford area also facelift

Looks like a good end to the weekend, your mrs must be well chuffed with an ek9 !!

It's crap driving up to view cars and they're nowhere near as good as they make out to be in the advert. I viewed 11 cars in the last two weeks and they were all let downs.

Yeah thats the one. Wasn't impressed at all. Which was a shame because silver facelifts looked good!

Yeah she's well chuffed, step up from her rotton del sol vti at least :p

Luckily enough the crx was awesome on fuel, and i had nothing better to do lol. And we ended up having a traffic light grand prix with a bodykitted eg with 2 guys in it that thought they were off fast and furious lol

Sounds like you had a bit of an adventure then. Looks like you got yourself a clean example in the end :nice:

Wow, sounds like a mission. It's always a risk travelling a long way to see a car as you can never be sure what they are really like. Glad you got one.

As a general rule, are the 'coloured' ones worth more or less than white one's?

Love weekends like that! Think most of me and my mate's car purchases have been like this!

Wow, got tired just reading about it!!! But you got a good car and that`s what counts!!

Thanks guys, proper enjoying it. Replaced the clutch fluid earlier and it was black, and has stopped slipping, so i'm guessing the fluid in it was there from the factory :/ but goes much better now. And found out the speed limiter is still fitted haha.

Looking sweet dude. Will have to come up and see it sometime

Yeah ga, you know where we are ;) lol

Ya bought the car off my brother who is living in London mate. I never saw the car in person as I'm not long back from Auz but he brought it over from Ireland where it had been parked up for ages and i think all it needed for the Mot was a foglight! He was very impressed with it to and surprised it didn't sell quicker. Good to hear your happy with the purchase and best of luck with it

oi  my del sol was awesome :) (when it worked) lol
but i am sooooo happy with the ek9

Lol the crx is awesome. 23 years old and on this little trip of ours it passed about 50 broken down cars 04plate on wards. No exaggeration. And it didn't miss a beat and was averaging 55mpg lol
