I know there are a lot of threads relating to tyre choices and I've read what feels like all of them and still not been able to come to a conclusion.

I've just got my EK9 back from service and MOT and the only thing mentioned was tyres running a bit low, which of course I knew anyway.

As this is Britain and we get crap weather so much of the time and winter will be with us quicker than we want, I am looking for some tyres that offer better wet/icy grip than the standard RE010s. Last year I found these to have very little grip in wintery conditions. I'm not talking about performance driving. My car is standard and daily driven and I have a 1.5 mile thin and twisty road from my house to the main road, this often get very wet or icy, just looking for something that will help me negotiate this safely.

Does any body have any recommendations ?

for wet weather i say you cant beat the toyo T1R,,,

and as for all the purists who say about squidgy sidewalls etc just go down to 45 or 50 series from 55 and the comparative stiffness evens out,
plus your gearing is better on the smaller rolling radiuses,

55 series,

45 series,

pretty much the same as running a 4.7 FD on 55 series tyres...............

check out uniroyal i have them on my very very gripy in the wet and good in the snow,

Uniroyal Rainsports are good in both conditions.

T1R`s cant be beaten in the wet weather?....riiight. Round MK they`re almost as bad as Spec 2`s...

for the rain it HAS to be uniroyal rainsports. they are brilliant in the wet.
think there's a rainsport 2 model nowadays.
