So as usuall I had left the car a few weeks standing, turned the key and it started first time. So drove it out the garage so I could work on it. I removed the steering wheel and 2 airbags ( so obviously disconnected battery ) as well as ripping some bits out of dash for stripping purposes. After re fitting wheel and finished all my other bits and bobs I reconnected the battery and.. wouldnt start. It sounded like it was trying to start fine but just wouldnt fire. so I left it a while tryed again. then tryed again. then it started to sound like battery was dying so I put up another fresh battery and still no go. So having left it for an hour I tryed to start it one last time and it fired with a splutter then ran fine. anyone got any ideas as to why it done this? ive always felt its ran a bit rich and a strong smell of fuel. cheers.

i would imagine your battery was running out of juice if it goes for prolonged periods without use. try and start the car up every few days if you can.

no its standard, it just confuses me how it did start after a while, going upto it today to see if its still starting, was messing around the main relay too so I guess ill check that

Id check fuel pump / relay maybe...

My old accord done that after the car was lying up for a few months. Suspected that the fuel pump relay was sticking , as it will fire up if the fuel lines where pressurised then die out like it ran out of petrol. I couldn't hear the relay click when I turned on the ignition. Turn it off and on a handful of times, you hear fuel gush then it will fire up.
