Hi

Recently installed a water gauge. The temperature sensor is put into the top rad hose in an adapter. And I find the water temperature low, 75-80c when driving.

The OEM water gauge shows normal operating temp
Thermostat is fairly new (OEM replacement), I'm running full size alu rad (DC2 size in EK9).
There is no air in the system. Oil temperature seems fine

The temperature has been 90c and up to about 95c and then the fan kicked in. So it seems precise. But that was at a race day and in idle

It never reach 90c, max 80c when driving. Is this normal. Should I be worried?
Or is it ok as long as the OEM gauge is at the middle?

double check that the thermostat is installed pointing in the correct direction.

double check that the thermostat is installed pointing in the correct direction.

but it does not seem far off at 90c
dash gauge is crap, but it takes a reading from the head. to have a reading from after the thermostat is a good thing to have.

I'll check that. Thank you

I was thinking that the rad offers too much cooling

sounds about right mate ive got a standard dc2 rad & on idle with my engine, hottest temp ive seen it at on the prosport gauge it 76-78c then then fan kicks in.

It's a Tegiwa DC2 aluminium rad. It's about twice as thick as a OEM rad.
It contains 4L cooling fluid

optimal engine temperature is 70-80c i think it's normal .

in my case i use stock half radiator on a hot summer day +30c out temp i see 70-82c when driving around once i saw 102c on traffic in a very hot day with 42c !!

i see temps up to 80c when driving normal and when fan kicks in its about 95c.

so its quite normal

My ek runs the same kind of temps. Sitting at around 90 while nailing it around the ring
