Hey guys what's going on! I have a little problem with my VTEC kicking in, for some odd reason whenever I do a long pull no matter what gear till like 8500 and I shift the check engine light turns on and VTEC does not engage an more! I have to turn the car off and back on for it to work again, I have a 96'-97' Type R motor swap in a EK hatch and I'm running a P28 chipped ECU... Any suggestions on what it could be? Thanks

it gave a code and told me that it is the speed sensor! Don't know why iy would tell me that!

could be the speed sensor on the back of the gearbox?

if it tells you that then its something you need to look at,. doesnt vtec engagment work on a load of factors? speed being one of them?

i would check the wiring on that and change the speed sensor if necessary... i am drunk right now though so you perhaps you should not listen to me

Start with the basics then..Check all connections reach down behind the gearbox, check the VSS connector is firmly clipped onto the VSS. even unclip it and use electrical contact cleaner spray, let it evaporate then firmly re-connect it, check if you still have the issue, then go on to check all relevant connection like the main harness connector that runs over the suspension tower and through the firewall.

Then go on to check in the under-dash fuebox and there is an auxillary fuse at the corner number 26, this fuse would normally do the immobilsor(if you have one), batt light, alternator and most importantly VSS! - double check this is in great condition its a 15A.

Let me know! after this the factory would use a test-harness to check continuity and voltage between the three wires.
