Hi Guys/Girls.

Am picking up Volk CE28n's on Saturday. Only have OEM Wheel nuts though :(

Would it be safe to drive on OEM Nuts for a month or so?

Also what is the cheapest nut alternate i could take?

Please Advise ;)

Not safe specially if you do long runs, you can use them, but I do recommend you to check if they're tight every 200 miles.

whats your budget? maybe motegi lug nuts? I think they're good quality and price.

i wouldnt if i was you, can ruin the wheel, or even snap wheel nuts!

have you looked into ultralite they are good, i personally got some wheel nuts from rarerims £25 and they are fine until i want to spalsh out on some volk ones !

Might just give Tegiwa or Rare rims a ring tomorrow.

Thanks guys.

tegiwa do them for those price
otherwise a cheap budget is D1 i guess

I wouldnt use oem, the taper is different.

could damage the rims!

yeah the rare rims ones come in red black silver gold blue and more lol! yeah i saw the tegiwa ones but i havnt had very good luck with tegiwa and didnt really trust their wheel nuts:secret:

cant wait to see these ce28n's on your car mate. should look amazing :)

Congrats sir. Post pix when installed but be sure to use the right lugnuts.

Halfords sell a pack of internal drive wheelnuts, they're steel so very strong and fit any aftermarket wheels, plus they're only £19.99.

They're sold as a fitting kit for Toyota and coming with some spigots but they'll be fine and at that price will give you chance to find something better :D

I must be a noob, what is wrong with running the CE28N's with oem nuts?
I was thinking you was talking locking nuts for security.

Oem wheels have a radius seat for the wheel nuts, aftermarket wheels have a tapered seat for the wheel nuts

Don't mix and match

AFAIK the OEM nuts have a rounded taper, almost all aftermarket wheels have a straight taper, so the OEM nuts would have a much much lower contact area!

That said, a friend of mine is running wheels designed for a flat seated nut with Rays Alu nuts which are tapered and they haven't budged an inch. What many people forget is that the nuts aren't supporting the weight of the car, that's done by the hubs/spigots etc. The nuts are just stopping the wheels falling off, so yes OEM nuts probably can work but for the sake of having to check and tighten you're better off with the right nuts.

As Steven said, most Aftermarket nuts are taper, there build and design is a little differant. So if you run tapered on OEM, after a while the nuts will get loose. No point in running that RISK.

In the END i didn't buy the CE28n's, all i needed the cash for something more important, but i am going to pick up some rims today. :)
