hi all
couldnt find any info on this
is there a way to check tranny oil level?
cheers:thanks:

You would be wrong.

While there is no indicator or a dipstick like you'd find on an automatic transmission, you have to set the car on a level surface.

-Raise the car on 4 jackstands
-if fluid drains out when you remove the bolt allow it drain till it stops
-if you feel inside with your finger and cannot detect any fluid, top it up via removing the VSS till it dribbles out till it stops.

i know auto have dip stick. why waste your time check oil level might well change it since going waste your time jack up the car.

Because it might already have been changed recently...and if you've been paying any attention at all, in some parts of the world, Honda MTF is still a little difficult to come by.

So I wouldn't simply jack up the car, drain everything and redo it if it just needs a topping up.

the tranny has 2 holes.

one is the drain hole at the bottom, and second is the fill hole on upper left side close to rear engine mount.

on a flat surface i would just crack open the fill hole and see if any fluid is coming out of the fill hole, and top up until it overflows. i used a funnel and a clear hose.

filling up tranny oil through fill hole and continue filling until it overflows is the method specified in honda service manual. you can also fill it up through vss.

how many kms have you travelled with current gbox oil? might as well drain the whole thing and fill up with fresh mtf.
