I'd prefer no cage than that many straights welded together. The welds do look great though :)

Best thing would have been to buy a basic 6 point then make it a multi point buy welding straights into it.

Won't really effect performance I would imagine but could effect the way in which the cage bends and breaks in the event of an impact. When the gusseting is added it should add more strength as it'll spread the force of any impact along the bar, but I'm no expert. Be interesting to see what a place like Custom Cages would say about the safety.
