To de aircon or not to de aircon...

Personally I'd leave it in. I was absolutely dying on track in the middle of summer last year, especially on the stricter tracks with long sleeves! I dont know if having a black car makes it worse but it was absolute hell and I was regretting binning it so much!

I run with the heaters full on hot days lol crack a window slightly?
Although I've been told off for that before, if it's a small amount they won't notice.
Yeah having a black car probably isn't helping. Well there's one reason for keeping it!

At some points I'd be dripping wet (sweat!!!) after 20 mins on track in blazing sun even with cracked windows. I should probably be happy I had such lovely dry days but it was unbearable. My saxo doesnt have aircon though and I dont get anywhere near as hot...maybe it is a black car thing :angry2:

The engine bay looks ten times better without for sure anyhoo :p

Suppose that could be a reason to keep it but then it saps power when you use it ;) I would just open the window slightly I think. Did that when I went to Silverstone and it was great, had long sleeves too.

I switch everything off when I go on track, even my head unit lol. No heaters or fans on, save as much power for the engine as possible haha!

So I probably wouldn't be too bothered without it anyway :D I think that black cars are generally hotter too yeah so that probably doesn't help. White cars ftw!

I have my lights on sometimes, well all the time at the ring, even in bright daylight it somehow catches your eye in the mirrors.
Heaters on is just to help the radiator out abit. Every little helps kind of thing.

Only just clocked what you meant by putting sweat in brackets lol

I always have heaters on and windows cracked. Have the fan set to 2.

No radio on, Why would you have that on? Same with Aircon dont see why you would need if for max 30 minutes of track driving.

I have been very sweaty out on track before, last year just 10mins of the ring and I'd be feeling the heat. Take my helmet off and It's running down my face lol

Aye I would use my lights if need be. I wasn't saying turning the head unit off as in I have it playing lol! I meant switch it off so it's not lit up. Mine is a Bluetooth phone one so its always on unless I switch it off.

I dont think I'd use aircon at all. Probably not even the heaters. Good to keep temps down I suppose but I'll just monitor the temps lol.

Wear a sweatband under your helmet to catch it hahaha

All this talk of heat and sweat reminds me of this Tsukuba endurance battle.

40-50 degree cabin heat...

Awesome battle that. Surprising to see just how much the reg plates affect cooling and also how much difference an oil cooler can make like on the RX8. It's temps stayed pretty low. High revving N/A cars struggled overall though lol. 65 degrees cabin temp as well.... Geez.

Yeah it's coming out lol. Dunno about a roof vent though hahaha

This is why I've moved my plate over to the side, away from the "mouth" of the bumper. Looks abit **** but saw this video lol

Yeah lol. I used to have mine there through choice but moved it back. Might have to move it again :D Will just take it off completely for track sessions.

I believe your supposed to take it to a garage and they suck it out iirc.
Harms the environment, I have in the past stuck a screwdriver in the valve. But you shouldn't do that really.

take it to a garage, aside from venting it being illegal, you can very easily get frostbite/fridge burns from the refrigerant hitting your skin and boiling off.

I would leave it in, if it's working correctly it won't sap as much power as you think. things like a blocked condensor coil, undercharged/overcharged systems will affect fuel consumption.
