Throttle body sticking

So after a drive today I noticed that the car was idling between 2 and 3k revs.
Took a quick play around to discover the throttle body isn't fully releasing after being pressed , but when I took the cable that leads into the firewall off it's mounts that it was releasing but a little to much (after revving it would drop to 200-300 revs).
Anyone have any idea what this might be as im stumped !

first off, it could be dirt and grime in the throttle body mechanism itself thats stopping the spring load from releasing at its normal rate. Take the TB off and clean it out with some brake cleaner.
Secondly, make sure there is no exaggerated twists or bends in the throttle cable as this could also have an effect.
Did you get my PM?....

Thanks , I tought it was the cable as the revs drop off when I take it off the brackets
Yeah replied man :)
