Audi's are really starting to grow on me lately, but does anyone know how they run? Are the reliable? And so on...

Quite like the Audi A4. Been looking about and some decent ones with about 250bhp :D only thing putting me off is I can imagine them costing a bomb to maintain..

They are no where near honda reliability.
And your paying for a name,
BMW trump them in every way and they are very bland to drive unless you go for an rs model.

That's the way I see them anyway

I also quite like Audis, I take a second look as an A5 drives by,

they are reliable but as said, no where near as reliable as a Honda, and they are bland inside, they do look good though, also they are all very heavy cars so handling wise, they suffer.

What engine are you considering? I quite fancy an S4, the 2.6 twin turbo.

Had 2 a3's and an rs4 avant. All petrol

Do sometimes go wrong and parts can be pricey depending on age age model, the diesels and very reliable and go for a very long time. All are screwed together very well using quality materials

I'm in the market for an rs6 avant at the moment

DSG boxes are a pig when they go wrong, which is quite often if you listen to people in the owners forums. Not tooo bad if your a bit of a Spanner dude, but gets expensive if you go to Audi.I would not touch a Diesel Audi after knowing of at least 4 people having serious problems with them, one brought A3 TDI S-Line DSG 55 plate ended up giving it to We Buy Any Crap for 2600, she paid 5000 for it 8 months previous. Know a couple of guys with petrol Audi's and say there fine
bit thirsty but no repair bills. They do look good though. Red A5 with Black wheels, yum yum

I read a article about Audi engines being very unreliable only read it as my sis got a s3 and thought I would wind her up about it lol

I drive my dads a3 sline tdi, nice car but not exciting. Cousin has a s3 new shape, not a bad car but expensive to run. Uncle had the v8 rs6, brilliant car but again very juicy. Reliability wise never had any issues with any of them. But all where brand new so didnt have dodgey previous owners.

honda/ audi are both my fav cars, audi looks just great interior /exterior
never had any problems when i had my a3 s-line 2.0tdi (170bhp) only had it from 103.800km to 178.600km

if i had the money there was a s4 b8 parked in my garage right now.
stock it has 333hp dynotune ( approx 750pound / 900euro) it has 420hp

Thanks for all the replies!

I'm not sure which A4 I'd like. Diesel ones have good torque but lack power, quite like the 2 or 3 litre ones which have 200bhp+!

Insurance aint too bad on them too. Seen an Audi A5 today which I also quite like.

Not sure what other cars to get. Bmw's are nice but don't fancy driving one in Scotland cos it snows that much!

What other cars would you's suggest which I could get from a garage and get financed?

Only had a quick glance at others comments but heres my 2p's worth.

The mother has a 2.0 TDI A4 2007 and its never needed anything yet, regular servicing as usual. I like its interior and exterior.
Heres some pics of the A4 after i was done washing it since im a nice son :woot:

My girlfriends father has the A5, i REALLY like that had a shot of it as well :blabla: inside is really comfy and it can shift aswell 3.0 TDI

but since im a saab man ill tell you to get an old saab instead.
Saab 9-5 with the B235R engine is stock 250bhp and can handle more with its stock internals.
Saab 9-3 HOT aero is another saab that is underrated it has 210bhp and can go up to 270 very easily
9-3:

I would say they ideal for a daily.

I've got an A3 tdi (1.9 pd) as my motorway cruiser and can't fault it for my 90+ mile commute. Heated leather and cruise control make the long journey that little bit more bare able.

Wouldn't like it as my only car tho as no Honda in the handling stakes.

Only downside for me is its a bit of a mare to work on what with all these pish spline bits haha

The problem with the Saab's is although the engine's are decent and can put out tidy figures, the chassis can't cope.

The older pd engines are also much more robust,
The larger v6 was problematic.

If your buying one new on finance I wouldn't worry so much, it will have a warranty for when it breaks :p

I have no idea where youve came up with that or who told you that but the problem is with the NG900 and the 9-3's up untill 2002 they all had whats called body roll. This was solve by a kit that maptun sell. Adding a brace does reduce it slightly
It was never a problem i felt was bad when i have my 3 saabs
Go on instagram and search Ultimatesaab thats my IG with loads of pictures and engine bay shots

Anyways back on topic lol

my thoughts on Audi's...shop rates are extreamly high, when they go bad, they do it in a very bad way. Not worth the time or money unless new off the dealer lot with 3-5 year service plan.

But when they are properly setup, they are monsters.

S4 and S8 [Ronin] have always been on my list of cars I would like to own.
