The knob who crashed his dc2...after 1 week

**** happens mate, believe me (9 accidents in the first 4 years of driving license - only guilty in two of them, which were sadly in traffic jams in very low speeds luckly- damn good looking girls make me look away in the traffic jams :p)!
Glad you're not hurt and glad you give your example for other young people (I'm quite old already... you can notice in my voice :p) to look for themselves and don't act wild!
Wish you get soon into another Honda... Why not a Type-R? Accidents can happen with smaller cars too... (I've had an accident at 160 KM/h with an Opel Corsa 1.2 16v 65bhp - Godbless driving skills to avoid a "professional driver" who got on my way in the highway... at 70 KM/h when I was 5 meters away from the *******...)

Hope everything goes ok for you!

Jesus!! Glad your ok along with your passenger. That looks like one hell of shunt. I would be properly gutted if that was my Teg, who wouldnt be? Also well done for being a man about the situation, cant be easy swallowing a pill like that?

Good luck in the future buddy.

I went on holiday the day after I wrote this up, so thought I would check out what sort of response I got from everyone now I'm back in the UK.

I really wasn't too sure what sort of reaction I would get, I think I was expecting a lot of abuse about it tbh, which would have been understandable. I have to say I am stunned by the support from everyone, was really nice to see everyone's first concern was our well being. :) a big thank you guys for all your comments. :nice:

As for the car, well, as predicted my insurance company are taking forever! So nothing new there I suppose. They do have my car and are in the process of their engineer's report being written up. I'm hoping for a settlement figure by the end of the week. :)

From there I'm going to try and buy the car back, if the price is right. I've been informed that if they categorise it as CAT C or D I can buy it back from them. If it's an A or B it will be going straight to to scrapyard. :( I've no experience with this sort of thing so I don't know what to expect really.

In the meantime I've been going around trying to work out what sort of car I can afford to insure next year. Now I know insurance companies are weird with their prices sometimes, but the quotes I've been getting don't make too much sense to me. I've had:

EP3: £1550
ej9: £1300
Ek4: £1470
S14a (uk spec): £1300
MX-5 (1.8): £800

I know that is an awful lot of money for insurance, but I now have 0 NCB and I'm still under 25. To me that's a mental price for a 2L Turbo with RWD, being the same as a D series civic!!

All that being said, I will probably be getting a cheap run about until my insurance sorts itself out over the next few years. :)

Thanks again for the support everyone! :nice:
