hi everyone,to those of you who are running or have ran tein ss coilovers on your ek9 id just like your opinions on what ride height and damping force setup you think works best for street use,ive just had mine fitted and set on damping force setting 6 out of 16 which a reckon might be a bit too soft for good handling?,ive had the ride height set to the tein advised height(25mm of adjustment left on the bottom of each shock) the rear looks lower but tom at tgm's said that the ek9 sits lower at the rear as standard,has anybody lowered the front a bit more to even it out??

i found that they have more than 16 clicks.... if you check yourself you will find they have about 30!!!

i run mine 2 clicks off hardest setting, fronts fully wound down and rears have about 5mm of thread left

from top of arch through the centre of the wheel it measures 585mm all round (thats with standard wheels running 205/50/15 tyres), although i'm running adjustable camber arms with -1.5 deg rear and -2.5 deg front so the camber makes the front sit a tad lower than what you can normally achieve

i find these settings PERFECT. used to run the rear a bit higher but the rear end felt a bit perched through corners and after checking corner weights of the car with me in it turned out i did have a bit too much weight over the front. feels very flat through corners now and alot more stable under braking with more weight further back (kinda need that running 4 pot brakes!!). with the damping set as hard as it is it's a bit bumpy/crashy about town but more than makes up for this with cornering/acceleration/braking characteristics

for your reference the car sits as so from side on

good stuff mate,looks sweet that low by the way,i wanna lower mine some more especially on the front but ill have to get some adjustable camber arms to eliminate too much negative camber angle so i dont get uneven tyre wear,i know that the dampers have more than 16 clicks of adjustment but tein say that if you turn the adjuster as far as it will go clockwise that puts you on the setting '16' (hardest) and then if you come back 16 clicks anti clockwise then that puts you on the softest setting of '0',i believe that any more clicks below '0' probably wont be changing the damping force anymore.

I wouldn't lower it too much on these coilovers, very low heights are for very stiff coilovers. When the springs allow a lot of travel you want to allow the suspension some travel to work with. If you feel the rear is too low raise it a bit IMO.

i adjusted the damper rate to setting 12 last night and took it for a spin and it corners much better now with a firmer setting,much bumpier on bad road surfaces but worth it for the cornering,i had a flick through the tein manual that comes with the kit and it actually states that after fitting the shocks with the advised ride height(25mm left on the thread on all 4 corners)that the rear actually should sit lower,12.4inch from the center of the wheel cap to the edge of the fender(rear) and 13inch(front). i dont suppose you would know roughly how many mm's to adjust the adjuster rings down on the front shocks to achieve the 12.4inch gap from wheel center to fender edge in order to match the front ride height to the rear?

Just one question, in the instructions manual sais that you can just use 1 to 16 hardness levels, and that exceeding level 16 may damage the damper.

Does it means that 1 is the softest or 1 is the standard value (12 clicks from hardest setting) ??

I'd like to know, because i've readen of ppl who sets it at 24 level (max) and i don't want my ss to get broken...

Sorry for not opening a new thread, but it also talks about the ss. Hope the creator of this thread doesn't mind :(

also to avoid a new thread, where did everyone get their SS from?

their isn't a damper setting 24 0n the tein super street,once you've turned the damper adjuster all the way clockwise until it won't go any further you are then on the hardest setting which is '16',the softest setting is zero which is found 16 clicks back from the hardest setting,if you try turning the adjuster any further than setting 16 then you will damage the damper.

I'm sorry eby5838 but my tein ss coilovers have between 24 & 25 clicks... and they are like yours, for an ek9 fitted in an ek4...

Try it please... :please::nerv:

im pretty sure that any extra clicks below the setting zero(16 clicks back from the hardest) are not adjusting the damper force anymore.
