Was thinking about buying a tegiwa induction kit and was wondering are they any good? Is the vtec crossover loud with this kit? Any gains?

probably the loudest vtec crossover with this intake
haven't used one but i do know they suffer from alot of heatsoak
gains will be minimal

Very loud !

If you're worried about heat soak, there's a decent guide done by jokeshopbeard on making an enclosed airbox.

It's good. The Js racing is good and this this a copy. I've got both and there's no difference in performance.

I've got the tegiwa one, it's just fine and the heat soak is only noticeable when you are stuck in traffic and not moving, I put a temp data logger in it once and as soon as I picked up speed the air temp inside the intake was almost the same as outside temperature (less than 1 deg. C of a difference). The other data logger was taped to the window wiper... And it does sound awesome!

if your getting one on the cheap then go for it

id lean more towards a DC2 airbox with cold air feed or a comptech which in my opinion is the best without going ITB

here is mine

If your worried about heatsoak on they whale ***** intakes, you can buy a heatshield or custom make one around it.

Mate of mine had a j's racing one and my god it sounded good! Tegiwa's is also a nice piece if kit. As above just make a box section around the filter.

I have been running mine for a few months now and have never encountered any heatsoak issues tbh.

And they sound ******* fantastic !

My car seemed to do quicker lap times with this intake compared to an airbox with panel filter and cold air feed

that was probably down to you becoming a faster driver, and coincidence that you fitted the intake at the same time.

Great kit , even better with a cold air feed , and even better again with a closed of box and cold air feed, either way you won't be disappointed , the sound brilliant to

Not really tbh because I have done probably close to 800 laps of that circuit. I was comparing it to a few other civics on the track that I used to be neck on neck with on the straights and with the whale intake my car seemed to pull better at certain points in the rev range

I also have a 3" cold air feed directly from the front bumper to the filter

Cool, perhaps not then if your a track veteran!
Funny you should say about the air feed. That's gna be one of my early mods when I get my 9.

Mine arrived today for my em1. Looks realy nice! Carbon fibre looks cool as and pretty well made. Love abit of carbon fibre. Also ordered a 3 inch cold air feed of ebay (yet to arrive) will be fitting it on sunday so il keep you posted on what its like on the road.

Great comments folks thanks for the help I just ordered mine hopefully get it in 3 days.

These make great noises, ive seen alot of people make a heat shield in the engine bay to try reduce the heatsoak. Cold air feed is also a great idea.

Fitted mine on sunday along with the cai. The noise is imense! Cant say ive noticed any power increase although i wasnt realy expecting any anyway but on the other hand i havnt noticed any power/torque decrease low down the rev range so thats good. Overall pretty pleased.
