its not as black and white as he put it
takata is just a huge brand, in a very fortunate position to charge the earth for a product which is much the same as any other FIA approved harness...
the ebay advert harness would be fine for the street...however, it says drag drift and track etc...no...ofcourse you could use it, but you will never be allowed to use it in any properly regulated race series like time attack, BDC, or nippon etc
you will need a FIA approved stamp on the harness
yes takata harnesses are a very good harness, but i get the exact same usage out of my two harnesses, exact same green colour, FIA approved 6 point harness, also the lightest FIA 6 point on the market.. and this will allow me to take part in any race series should i decide to do it.
takatas are sold for £400 give or take £50 and people pay the money... its just like brand whores will buy a nismo exhaust for the 350z at £12-1400 when the half price greddy item at £5-600 does the exact same job... its an "iv got a takata harness" thing in my opinion
if i put the takata gel shoulder pads on my harnesses they would look identical. and mine cost less than £100 each. and are available in 6 colours
i am a brand whore to an extent and id never pay full whack for a takata...but i was willing to buy lynchs, as its quite close to half price!
if you would like one of the harnesses i have, please let me know
