Don't need a massive introduction I guess.. Bought the car with 147,000 miles from Fife for £850 about a year ago now, and honestly, progress has been very slow.

However, since I've made a rather considerable step towards my ultimate goal, I thought I'd do a proper build thread.

This is it on the day I picked 'er up.

The first step or two were just very minor items, speakers, rocker cover painting, tilted spoiler etc.

Before tilt:

After:

So at that point, all was going well. It was running fine, it was fun to drive and it gave me the sense of freedom only a first "on-road" car can. Then the problems started, I decided it maybe best to check the oil.. Bone dry, thus began the nearly year-long ordeal of FILLING it once a week with oil, the rest disappearing in a puff of smoke.

"Nope, No burns, leaks etc." The boy told me. Lying p**ck.
Anyway, after that became routine I had a mild collision with kerb.. but, I got off with it, the car was undamaged. Or so I thought.
Two weeks later, this happens:

Yeah, that was fun.. The ball-joint had been cracked when I'd crashed, resulting in that. Also meaning the driveshaft took a beating and needed replaced and the wing was ruined.

So, start throwing a great deal of money at it, fixed.

So at that point I decided mods had been a little slow so I bought a set of 15" Astra GTE Teardrops that a mate took off his old van. Not the best looking things but perhaps better than the steelies.

You might notice in that second picture there appears to be something covering my back passenger window, well no.. That 'is' my back passenger window. Courtesy of one thieving little b"****d who decided my head unit, wallet and fags were worth having.

Notice the four leaf clover on the mirror, lucky my backside.

So anyway, moving on.. The engine has just now ticked over to 160k and I've decided that's just a little too high, not to mention the fact that I'm getting very bored with the lack of power from the little 1.4 lump.

Hence my latest buy (From Monikie, Dundee) and my first step towards what should be a tremendous, if not slightly delayed project..

A rebuilt D16Z6, Clutch, Gearbox and driveshaft with 20,000 on the clock, oh.. And a Tanabe backbox. It was actually hauled originally from this:

So that's the progress so far, on the lookout now for all the parts to assemble my turbo, with my target being a slightly ambitious 250Bhp.

:drive: Josh.
