Was having a light hearted debate with a mate yesterday.

Number 1 , Would it be easier to sell a Standard or Modified EK9 (desirable mods ofcourse)

Number 2 , What would fetch more , standard or modified?

I automatically think a standard 9 would appeal to a bigger market but he disagrees? I also have the view that splitting it back to standard and selling all the mods, then the standard car would fetch you more money...

Just wondering if i can get your thoughts on the matter

Standard own 9 any day because realistically how many genuine unmolested ek9s are out there..??thats why I bought mine because it was oem and that's the way it's staying..

I agree with you! Standard appeals to a far bigger market and obviously splitting the mods off it and selling them will fetch more cash :)

Number 1: No difference imo. Stock ek9 would attract the purists/possible collectors. Desirable ek9 would attract near enough most potential buyers. However a highly modified/**** one might be harder to attract buyers. If I were looking for an ek9 and had plenty of money, id be looking at a stock car (preferably fresh import) that I know hasn’t been modified and turned back to stock, then I can modify myself.

Number 2: Depends on modifications, however I wouldn’t say there would be much between a well modified car, vs stock example.

You could fetch more money putting car back to stock and selling parts, if you keep all OEM parts and can fit most things yourself.

i agree.

ive been thinking for future, i have all stock ek9 parts bar a red strut brace & suspension which should be easy enough to get my hands on.

So if I ever did want to sell up, breaking my car back to standard would probably fetch myself the better money + selling the mods.

but on the other hand, the right buyer would pay for an Ek9 with some desirable mods already done ? but would they pay the price tag, as we all know, most of the time , mods dont mean money.

It all depends on buyer and seller. I didn't pay alot more than a standard EK9 to buy mine at the time of purchase and to buy all the mods seperately would cost atleast a couple of grand.

This is what I did.
Paid alittle over what the car was worth but got a lot of mods.
The mods are my insurance policy if I was to either crash the car or the prices for them dropped too much.
I should see my money back easy enough when it comes time to sell
