Hi there.

I'm ever so close to purchasing a set of Spoon SW888's in 15x6.5 ET42. I'm currently running EK9 Racebase Steelies, which I believe are 15x5.5 and ET50?

Firstly from my research I believe the SW's should sit a little wider due to the lower offset and the extra inch width? I plan to run the same tyre size as I currently do (195/55/15), but an considering running 195/50/15 due to the slighly smaller sidewall. What are peoples preference here?
I considered 205/50/15 also, but dont want and rubbing to introduce any rubbing due to width.

I should note the car runs standard EK9 suspension currently.

Anyway back to the main question at hand, do anyone know what clearance you need to run Spoon calipers? Im going to be grabbing a set soon, but want to be sure that ET42 wheels will clear them.

Also on a (further) side note, are the Spoon calipers maintenance free (sealed units?). I remember when I had some 4 pots for my old car, I went for Wilwood Midilites as they required no regular servicing. Ideally I would want the same from the Spoon units.

Thanks in advance,
Rush

I had this wheel and brake set up on my ek9.. I used a 3mm spacer and there is just enough room for the spoke to pass the face of the caliper. if you really want to play it safe go for a 5mm spacer. the spoon brakes are maintenance free, for older and more used caliper sets spoon offer a rebuild kit.. seals, pistons, nipples and so on. so you wont have to worry about anything.

I could do you a good deal on a set of Midilites if you fancied those instead of the Spoons? :)

Thanks Dave, information is exactly what I was after. The seller of the wheels informed me to use a 5mm spacer.

The Midilites, do they they come with a spacing kit for the EK9? Imagine you need to run Wilwood spec disc and pads? Do they do discs in 5 stud for this vehicle?
I would be interested depending on price for the full kit. I used to use Rally Design for disc / pads for my old kit (fitted to a 106 GTi).

We do a kit which uses the Midilites and fit to the OEM spec 282mm discs. I'll drop you a message about it.
