Well I've bought an em1 cheap and it smokes when you rev on idle also I done the steep hill test, started at 6000rpm and let it overrun until 2000rpm, when I pop my foot down it let's off a good puff of smoke. I've asked about and also spoke to andrew Baird at automek and described my symptoms to him, and he suggests it's my rings, now andrew has advised me to just bite the bullet and go for b18c6, but I just can't afford one just now, although I have found a very reasonable priced b16a from a guy called michael Kennedy in Bonnyrigg, has anyone has any dealings with him? Just don't want to buy a dinger lol, he says it ran well in his friends CRX and he has done headgasket and valve stem oil seals.

Any help would be great

Shame to hear,
You should save up and get a b18. Worthy upgrade from b16a.

What car dows this guy have? Iv got a unit in bonnybridge and know a few folk about there, might be able to help

People normally only do valve stem seals in a bid to reduce smoking/oil consumption. It rarely works. I would be asking why did they decide to change valve stem seals?

It's bonnyrigg near Edinburgh not bonnybridge bud, and he does banger racing in a baby blue civic

And I know I should be going b18 from my a2 but just don't have the money just now being on apprenticeship wages, maybe next year, I'm just looking for a short term fix to last me at least until next year to give me the opportunity to save or rebuild my a2 with updated parts etc, I know a few who have replaces a2s with a's to save some cash when their engines have went, I'm hardy using anything on the dipstick but looks like I'm burning a fair bit through the exhaust, it's definitely Blue smoke.

Thanks for replying guys

Aww my bad, must have mis read it, tbh man like said above why did they change valve stem seals? And your always at risk buying an engine unless you know the car its in well, what sort of budget have you got? Why not just run the car as is, and save for b18?

Right now I have around £400 inc fitting the engine

I have also noticed oil on ht leads number 3&4 on the top of the spark plug too, any ideas?

That will be caused by your spark plug seals. They are like £4 quid each from honda they will just have perished over time and need replaced
