Hi guys, so recently since its been getting cold, I've been making good use of the heating in the car :D One thing I've noticed though is that I often get a strong smell of fuel. It doesn't bother me too much but when its freezing cold or raining, I can't really open the window much to let some fresh air in :/

I've taken a look around the engine bay to see if there are any fuel leaks from the fuel filter, injectors and the fuel lines themselves. Nothing. I'm quite stumped as to what could be the cause of it. I've also changed my pollen filter so I know that can't be the cause. If anyone has any ideas as to what it could be or if anyone has experienced this before, I'd greatly appreciate any advice or help. Thanks

How would I go about checking whether its running rich or not? And how would I go about sorting it if it is?

Carbon canister? What is that exactly and where is it located? Its an EJ9 btw.

Well I thought thats what he meant. I don't have a decat guys so definitely not that. I'm gonna look into the running rich thing, probably my best bet at the moment.

I had a similar problem in a 240sx. The downpipe bolts had started to loosen and caused a minor gap, but big enough to make the car smell. Do a visual of your exhaust system and put a wrench on the bolts. Thats my suggestion.

Perhaps you've dislodged something whilst fitting your pollen filter. Perhaps not fitted it correctly?

have you figured it out yet? :nerv:

Thanks for your advice pal, haven't had a chance to take a look yet as its been snowing quite a bit over here :/ will try the bolts and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully it is that coz its driving me nuts!!!!
