ok so ive a slug on my civic and was wondering..what the best thing to use for a heatshield ram for the intake....im not looking for a big spender job..just something budget..or even something which looks decent and may be lying about your day to day home, co-op, depo etc. which i can use for the material....anyone any idea?...or even a diy thread or piks..any help appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you, I was thinking of modelling a box using cardboard and then recreating it in fiber glass... If you are precise enough the box could be open up top, you'd just need to seal it against the bonnet.

if you get yourself some material you can copy mine if you want, the only difficult bit was cutting the hole for the slug to fit threw, but would be much easier now as you could copy the shape,

Nice job mate.

I am going to be making one soon for my 3" arm intake (cone up behind the headlight). Is yours just 2 sides? top and side, bent at 90*?

I was going to make a more complex cut out aluminum box with no top, but cut to form a decent seal on the bonnet when shut...think your design looks much simpler yet just as effective. Yours made from fiberglass?

what material did you use again llyod? do you think it keeps the heat soak to a minimum

I used carbon effect plastic sheet that rally boys use for door cards and that, it easy to use I just heated it with a heat gun and bent it to shape, I think it works well because the plastic dosent conduct heat the same as metal

Looks nice above :)

I'm planning on doing something like this soon in conjunction with a hollowed out headlight air ram.
