It is tough for me to say it.....but I feel sort of isolated here since almost nobody speaks about Skunk2 Racing. :) This maker is one of the best aftermarket performance parts manufacturers and I think it deserves a bit more attention! :p Anyway, what I wanted to say is that, comparing Toda spec B with Skunk2 Stage II cams you end up with a compromise since these camshafts are of similar quality but focus on different aspects. It is proven that Toda spec B give the best midrange power of all whereas Skunk 2 Stage II are specifically designed for top end power, that's why are more aggressive than Toda. Actually, when Skunk2 Stage II are properly tuned, you must feel a small extra kick around 7000 rpm! And this is what I feel indeed. These cams are equivalent to Jun type 3 but still suitable for street use! That's why they are AWESOME!! I personally prefer these camshafts for their aggressiveness, they kick like a horse!! In terms of torque, they give a lot but not as much as Toda. As for Stage III.... keep away if you want to live!!!
I would like to hear your own preferences as well! :nice:

Skunk2 makes some quality products, i like the camber kits. I had a 92 civic hatchback cx with a b16a swap a few years ago. I installed CTR pistons, and Skunk2 Stage I camshafts, retainers and springs, with no tune, i was able to shave off 0.400 in my 1/8 mile time. I loved them :)

I think this company is "drag racing" oriented, since their camshafts move the power to high rpms. It's a good option for the price, the Stage I camshafts are very similar to the oem ek9 civic type r camshafts, i have friends with stage II and III running in their engines, and they get excellent 1/4 mile times. :nice:

BTW i want the skunk 2 pro series camber kit :(

To get the most from these Skunk2 Stage II camshafts, you really have to work on your engine!!$$$ You need more fuel, air, compression ... something more from everything! This is the "proper" tuning for every high performance camshaft like Skunk2 Stage II or Toda spec B for example. Remember that these Skunk2 Stage 2 cams can release horses even when the B16B is stroked!! The Skunk2 says it can give up to 18bhp on EK9 and 22bhp on DC2!! These are impressive numbers!! :nerv: A friend of mine who owns an EK9, he put a Toda header 4-2-1 which gives the best midrange gains along with Skunk2 Stage II which give huge power in high rpm and at the end header and cams got married :D

Here in my country there's a common comment i usually hear, the comment is that skunk 2 stage 2 engines can't be used for daily drive or b16 engine, i think this is totally wrong, properly tuned you can have a perfect car for daily drive with this aftermarket parts installed :)

ManosEK9, btw how you car idles ?

The car's behavior is great with stock brakes and suspension even though it produces somewhere 215 bhp having a lot of head work. What has changed in its behavior is when cornering a 45+ degrees corner with full throttle, the car is a bit unstable due to the extreme camshaft performance in high rpm as soon as vtec kicks in :nerv: I'm planning to replace my S-AFC (its crap!! ) with a Power FC this summer, something that will increase the hp around to 230 bhp for sure, unstroked!! Also, definitely I will have to get some better suspension and brakes for proper handling. Hey, nice new WOOT :woot: face. You should put some more as well!!!:nice:

i think you can easily drive a an engine with the S2S2 cams everyday.

Yes, they are considered to have equivalent performance to Jun Type III which are for track use only according to Jun, but Skunk2 Stage II are still suitable for street use as well. Skunk2 Stage III are in a different level from Jun Type III. That's the big advantage for Skunk2 over Jun in terms of camshafts reputation. For me, Toda Spec II and Skunk2 Stage II are the best cams in the market nowdays for street racing. For smooth acceleration and midrange power I say yes to Toda, for aggressiveness and high end performance I say yes to Skunk2. Bad compromise, ha?

hehhehee :woot:

hmmm i thinkg s2s2 is more like a toda spec-D in terms of size, or atlease they make about the same power from what ive seen.

The reason because I've put that singature below is because I have no better words to say about these cams  Before I bought them, I collected many info about every maker's cam/stage that was possible for me and what it would be the best choice for my EK9. I saw lots of dyno sheets with cams comparisons.... and I was stunned to see that Skunk2 Racing Stage II along with a header designed for high end power, it made people wonder if the dyno was measuring peak hp correctly! :wow: Also, the Skunk2 Stage III pair gave the most peak horsepower of all the "track only" camshafts.
Note:: I'm running a 5Zigen 4-2-1 header which is one of the best headers for midrange power and the midrange torque is excellent. They are a perfect match!! :nice: However, installing a high end power header with these cams in not recommended for street use because they both focus their performance on high rpm. I've also heart that a Toda 4-2-1 header combined with Skunk2 Stage II gives some unrealistic numbers!!!
