Save The Ring

Your help is needed!

Hi everyone,

Most of you will probably have heard of the famous Nürburgring/Nordschleife racetrack in Germany. For many years motorsport enthousiasts from all over the world travel over here to enjoy motorsports at it's finest: by watching or by participating. The Nürburgring has to be devided in 2 different sections: the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife (or Green Hell).
Most “normal” races (including the Formula 1 race) are being held at the Grand Prix circuit, VLN races (long distance races) are held at both: the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife then will be connected to eachother.

But what the Nürburgring probably is most famous for are the Touristenfahrten at the Nordschleife. Petrolheads from all over the world come here to experience the almost 21 kilometer long track themselves: in a (modified) streetcar, a purpose-built Ringtool or as a passenger. Not to forget the hunderds/thousands of spectators that very much add to the magic atmosphere around “The Ring.”

In the past few years the Nürburgring has run into some serious troubles: some private investors have put the Nürburgring into serious debts by investing in very expensive projects wich will never become profitable. Allthough the Nürburgring and the Nordschleife are in a way seperate businesses, they are linked too. Not only because the tracks are linked, but also financially. This is where the danger sits: the ONLY thing that currently is profitable are the Touristenfahrten at the Nordschleife!!

This is where Save The Ring comes into the story: from the moment the new investors revealed their plans a lot of people had their doubts, but some where downright worried and spoke out their fears of what would happen.
It won't come as a surprise that the investors didn't like these remarks, and did a lot to get these guys to shut up. They partly succeeded in this because the board on Save The Nurburgring! had to be closed, but recently has been re-opened!

Thanks for reading and I hope you'll support Save The Ring. I'm really not the type of guy that normally posts these kinds of things, but we need to show our support. For the guys behind STR, and for the future of the Nürburgring.

Cheers,

Marcell/Knite Force
