Sale rules posts

At the moment there is the 50 min posts rule in the for sale section. Although this stops users with under 50 posts to start a thread in the for sale section, it doesn't stop them from posting elsewhere.

Is it possible to do the same in the rest of the forum but instead of blocking their post permission, is it possible to block people with under 50 posts to post a thread with the word sale in the title?

Example: user with under 50 posts
creating post in for sale section: Not allowed
creating posts elsewhere: allowed
creating posts elsewhere but selling their goods(usually with the word sale, or selling in the thread title): not allowed

Just an Idea as this might save moderators time enforcing the rule. Then again it might be something too hard or unheard of

I think having a rule like that in place could too easily be worked around just by leaving the word 'sale' out of the thread title. There are too many words that would have to be blocked also (EK9 parts, spoon stuff, second hand etc etc)

TBH, and I know this seems a little harsh, I think the way to go would be to disable new users from being able to start new threads until they have reached 50 posts. That would completely eliminate the possibility of users coming on and starting for sale threads in other sections.

It would also mean that new users have to get a little involved (put something into) the forum before they could start asking for advice on this or that. Give and take, I say.

i like the idea, but i can see it being harsh and maybe putting off people. but it could mean we get dedicated users

It does seem harsh, but I agree with this. It could perhaps be a bit lower before they can start a thread such as 25 before you can start a thread of your own and then 50 before you can make a For Sale thread. This would stop people who only use this forum to sell things.
