Rusty roof issues on my Champ white fn2

Hey guys. Time has come to be a bit more grown up so decided to get myself a more suitable daily as the coupe was too impractical and the current daily (Citroën c1) was just shite so I traded the c1 in and got a champ white fn2, amazing condition and completely standard bar a rear seeker wing with just under 70k on the clock.

Only issue at the time was the horrible matt black vinyl wrap on the roof, spoiler and wing mirrors so that was the first job, and what a pain it was!

Plans for the car are just to keep it clean and enjoy having something comfy and quiet, really want to get the alloys refurbed but not sure wether to put it back to the original champ white or to go for shadow chrome or Honda satin silver but we will just see what happens

So after removing the awful matt black vinyl from the roof I noticed a line of rust along the front of the roof above the windscreen and after taking to a few people and a quick Google search I realised I could possibly get it done for free under warranty as it was actually a recall.

Firstly I contacted my local Honda dealership which is parks Honda in hamilton, I done this on the 19th September, they were very helpful and told me to contact customer services to get the ball rolling so I phoned them as soon as I could. They said to book the car into my local dealership for a corrosion check so they could build up a case to take to Honda warranty to get it approved! Cut to the 23rd Sept I'm sitting in parks Honda in hamilton drinking tea and eating biscuits while I wait on them doing their thing. 10 minutes later I'm told that's all they can do so far and they would send everything through to where it needs to go and I'd be contacted in a few working days!

Hey! I had this issue on my FN2 last year, it's problem with the way the windscreen mount was designed. Micro vibrations in the rubber wear away the paint and let the elements in, causing the rust. If I remember correctly Honda actually extended the corrosion warranty for this particular issue. Hope you get it sorted anyways!

Maybe that's the reason previous owner had vinyl wrapped on the roof, but it should be done the right way which is what you are doing now.

High chance of it tbh, if anything it probably made the rust worse holding moisture against the paint

Yeah man, me too haha really don't fancy dipping into my own pocket for it either

Quick update, today I received an email from parks asking for a copy of my service book, it's had regular services since new but only the first couple are from Honda, will this effect the likelihood of it being covered under warranty?

So! Yesterday I decided I'd got fed up of waiting for Honda to contact me so I decided to give them a bell, turns out there was an error in communication and supposedly someone should have contacted me weeks ago! Anyways my claim has been approved and I'm dropping the car off on the 31st of October at parks Honda for the roof to be repaired! Absolutely buzzing!

Just picked up the car from parka Honda and it's all good! nice tidy job done, can't say I have any right to complain, done without spending a penny too! think they would do the rear arches on my coupe under warranty? Haha
