Just wondering which bushes are the best to replace the originals with? I was looking at the FunkyPower poly bushes or ive been hearing about hardrace bushes.
hardrace bushes are rubber so will stay fresh for longer. I have ES PU bushes fitted to one of my cars but its hardly driven so longevity (or rather lack of it) of PU bushes is really of any concern to me.
It very much depends how/what you're using the car for. Hell, spherical/rose-jointed bushings would be the best for a race car but it isn't what you'd want on your DD!
there is a comparison test on dc2 forum.suspension section
Deflection comparison Old (10 years/80k miles) OEM : 20mm
New OEM: 19mm
New Mugen: 10mm £=?
New Hardrace: 0mm
I would recommend the PIC performance/Suja 1 Motoring hard rubber kit. These are in stock right now, I just talked to Suja1 yesterday.
Asked him about the kit, he said it was similar to hardrace in hardness, but better with availability. pic performance
If you are going to go polyurethane bushings, I would recommend prothane over ES suspension. Heard a lot of good word of mouth for Prothane. However, I wouldn't use poly for the the rear trailing arm bushings.
Founder of PIC Performance Jim Hung told me that polyurethane bushings are good with one plane of movement, such as rear lower shock mount bushings, and that hard rubber or rubber in better for multiple planes of movement, such as the rear trailing arm bushings.
Okay I've had a wee search and found that hardrace bushes seem to be popping up with positive feedback, so where can I purchase the master bushing set from?
