Really strange problem on d14

hi guys a mate of mine ha picked up and ej9 with a ruined engine. Put another d14 in it and it's doing something very odd.

The lugs on the dizzy, the ones that go into the end of the cam are breaking off.

First dizzy it broke one. Second dizzy it broke both?

Anyone come across this before?

That's strange, only thing I can think of is that the lugs on the dizzy are too small for the cam, and when you start it etc they chatter and break off....

Sounds the cam is out of whack! Not straight,
Or cam caps not tight enough?

I'd guess as above, camshaft must be moving about at the dizzy end(it's bent or caps loose) I'd expect some savage wear in the shaft journals and caps if that's the case though.

If you guys need any parts my old engine is up at Johns, can get some spares for you man. Ironically the dizzy is the only bit thats not there haha

On a b series it is possible to fit the dizzy the wrong way in the camshaft(the lugs are offset)
Not sure if the same applies for a D or who's fitting the dizzys but worth a check I guess

Is this the dizzy I got to strip mate? Mighty still be in my garage is so lol let me know if it's needed and I'll have a look.
