Am i going to notice a big difference in speed? has anyone gone from something similar to an EK9? someone said to me the other day its not that fast and you really need to lay into it to get the car to go..or notice the speed? i didnt think this would be the case.

You will notice a big difference in acceleration lets face it its over a second quicker to 60 and prob has it by 20 mph on top end its more about the handeling though. You will be able to chuck it into to corners at much higher speeds it will have better brakes also. Yer your right you do need to get it into the VTEC to feel the power but thats what honda's are about. Its as fast as an integra ( well just behind ) and if thats slow then im the King of england.

True your not going to enter warp speed when you floor it but they are a great track wepon very balanced and they can handle there speed some of my m8's tuned cars i go in i think im gonna die coz they cant brake or corner quick enough.

Haha thats cool, thats the answer i was hoping for.. i dont wanna be going from a little pocket rocket to something slow, but i wasnt expecting it to be. Its a Type R..its gotta beat a peugeot!

I went from a 200bhp ibiza cupra 20v Turbo and my ek9 feels quick to me still! :nice:

really?! wow.. then theres a big chance i will feel a difference, great! cant wait now..

There's some dude a couple of streets away from me with a nice Yellow Ibiza Cupra R who tried to stay with me on a long stretch of road near to where I live.

I was pulling away from him all the way to about 80-90mph until I slowed up and turned off. This was on a straight......no corners.

Do you guys have lots of Mods though to do this, or are you meaning a standard EK9 will still give other fast cars a good run for their money?

Well certainly dont underestimate the ek9!

I love driving it, just a much more fun car to drive than my ibiza.

I have a few mods at mo, j's racing carbon intake & 5zigen miracle fireball cat-back exhaust so not spent ££££'s.

Have you been in one or driven one? As soon as I test drove one I knew i wanted it.

I havent, but if i got a shot of one of the newer Type R's, would it just be soemthing similar? friends got a newer black type r and offered a shot, ive just never taken them up on it yet.

When you say new type r's you mean ep3??

I think ek9 is slightly faster 0-60 than uk spec ep3 (someone will correct me if i'm wrong).

Not sure you can compare the vtec crossover either, my mates got an ep3 and its nothing compared to mine. Such a massive difference when it comes into vtec, love it! :D

My advice, find one, test drive - you will know straight away if you want one!

It will be quicker to 60 but the new type R's do them on top end. A Nine driven well will give alot of bigger power cars a run for there money. Remember there lighter than nearly all other hatches out there and they handle like a beast plus that little 1.6 is more like a 2.0 for BHP. You will give other fast cars a run for there money thats for sure esp through the twistys.

Aslong as your a good driver :)™

Ohh im loving the sound of this!! i knew i wanted one just by the look of it, lol. The power is gonna be ace, cant wait to get my first go of vtec..

When i went to pick up my 9 from worchester the drive back was just fantastic ! had never driven one before and it blew my mind !... still does lol Can punch above its weight easily with giving 2.0ltr turbos and so on a run for thier money:shocked: after your first drive you`ll catch the vtec bug i guarantee it lol:D

The only mod on my car when I went up against this Cupra R was a Spoon Muffler. I've had plenty done since then.

It's very good until vtec and pulls well being quite a light car. Once the cam profile switches the power delivery through Vtec will be nothing like anything else you've ever driven I'm sure. :nice:

i went from, a vts to a b18c ek9.

wasnt that big of a step up to be honest

my current vti is faster than my old 106 gtaiii , an ek9 will definetly be faster but it might not 'feel' faster , they have more or less the same amount of torque

ek9 is a better car :bow:its more special than a 106

what the ****. are u sure u have a ek9 mate cause there is no way a saxo can even compair never mind with a b18.

some people under estimate the b16s as they require work to shift, due to the high revving engines.

If it beats the gti, thats all im concerned about.. lol, im sure it wont fall to bits like my gti either! Never gettin another french car as long as i live..
