Has anyone here ever experience the 4WS of the Prelude model? It supposedly counter the main understeer prob of FF cars, i'm just wonderin:
1. the effectiveness of the 4WS
2. can it be used on EK9(as in converting the whole part into the chasis of EK)

I have had it.

it is good.

You don't really notice it much, but when you give it some on the corners, it does give you some opposite lock to counter the slide which is good.

Only kicks in when the car is in motion.

Great for parking.

It will only go to a small degree at low speeds, such as parking, but works at a higher degree (point of turn) at higher speeds.

Not sure about a conversion to an EK, but good luck with it if you do it.

haha nah boozer its just a theory only(bout the conversion to EK), i dun even OWN an 9.....but yea, its kinda got a reputation of being a parking-friendly system hehe......

As the manual says the rears turn the opposite way to the fronts at low speed to help parking and general driving, above a certain threshold (100km/h i recall) they turn the same way but only slightly.

Advantages= NO body-roll, very manouverable

Disadvantages (speking from experience on the 4g) its prone to throwing soft-fault codes if you throw the car about alot. and even if your going ove 60mph/100km/h and you turn the wheel FAST past a certain angle, the rear wheels WILL turn the OPPOSITE way. Unpredictable to say the least! Did it on-tracka few years ago, open pit lane event. Decided to take the fuse out so the rears centred themselves.

5G maybe were improved???

A great system but the 4G versions definitely had some flaws!

Overall Id say its a heavy and problematic system (from the 4G).

Ek9s handle like go-karts anyway! ;)

my mate has one too... never driven it myself b4, by wot he says its nice ona open road but bit harsh on twisty rd sections!

def looks different and is useful for low speed city driving as it makes a long car like the Prelude manouverable (parking & tight bends) :nice:

think Mazda were the 1st to implement this on road cars, but def Honda hve done a great job with it continuing model after another  :D
