Hi guys, I have a EJ9, and for the past 8-9 months, I have had a wet passenger front footwell when it rains, I have done the sunroof drainage tube test, comes out the car as it should, only thing is, the water is dripping down behind the dashboard, I am guessing the sealant is letting water in? I have seen ways people have sealed it up without taking the dashboard out, by taking blower motor out via glovebox, only thing is I have A.C and can it still be done without the dashboard out?

Any other views in where the water is coming from, let me know please, its driving me insane.

Thanks.

seen this probelm before in the citroen garage i work in dont know if its the same story here but your windscreen could be leaking.really have to do alot of investigating with it to find where its getting in while someone sprays water on the car.

Any tell tell signs its the windscreen? someone said that to me as well that it could be the windscreen.

Taking the AC out is possible without removing dash, however taking the heater matrix out is a lot harder. I would say it is honestly easier to remove the dash. If you are removing the matrix then remember there is a bolt on the firewall in the bay, however getting the thing out is still a pain in the arse.

Don't need the heater matrix out, just need to access the side corner on the passenger side where the sealant may have gone, people said A/C box can't be taken out without the dash.

windscreen mate.

most likely has been replaced in the past due to stone chip or crack.

common area to leak if screen not fitted correctly.

Nuno.

I had the car for 7years, never changed the screen, also its original honda one too, looks like its never been changed?

Ill bet you my bottom dollar its not the windscreen man. Your sealant is not sealing between the firewall and upper corner below the windscreen. Do yourself a favour. Get the dash out(its actually pretty easy), remove the ac and heater unit and get inthere with a drill and wire brush. You will quickly spot the problem. Be prepared tho to deall with rust. You may even need to get the area cut out and have a piece re welded. Remember. Its not the rust you can see that's the problem- its the rust that you can't see!

I can do a write up for you if you would like man, it'll be a little later tho, I'm a bit busy atm. Ill try include pictures where possible, starting from how to remove the dash.

Rust? argghh hate that word,

Yeh if you can, I have seen write ups before where the sealant is gone on the top corner, where you can see a dirty water line.

best bet for now just too try find the leak is to have someone spray water on the car while your inside looking for the leak. strip out the glovebox and get a light. might find it worth ago before you go to alot of hassle.

This is a good idea. Get a flash light, maybe take the glove box out and the kick panel and shine upward. Look above the ecu(there should be a little grounding plug just above the ecu to the right). Look in that area, if it is the sealant and you can see a water line(if not get a mate to pour water over the outside) then the dash must come out. Ill do the write up bro- will post it up here.

definatly worth doing as a first step. seen it happen alot.

Doesn't the side sealant have another way of being fixed via the engine bay?

I don't like taking the dash out lool,

If I pour water behind the fusebox, and it comes in, what signs does that give?

Let me know what you find and if you want me to start that write up.

Do the write up for me when u can mate

I am going to tackle this soon, need it sorted with this **** weather.

The othe less complicated way to see is by removing the battery and its tray and cleaning that area. Maybe even loosen the fuse box as well. My friends car has a huge hole below the battery. Do the simple checks first, if you don't come right, then my write up will help. I'm pretty busy at work bro and I don't have internet at home currently(wirelss has crap reception), but be patient ill get it up this week for sure, even if I have to open the page at work then work offline on the page at home ill do it man.

No worries, I have removed the battery before, the tray and the big bolt holding it is rusted to hell, can't be removed, I was thinking of taking the fusebox out and checking for any cracks in the sealant in the bay though.

No worries, won't be till the weekend when I do anything.
