Hey there guys

just wondering what parts are involved for fitting a stereo in ek9's?

Mine came with a stereo under the seat but no brackets or cage or anything, so all i have is a gaping hole in the dash where a stereo should be :p

I'd appreciate if someone could let me know what parts exactly are needed, be it side brackets or a cage or something, to mount the stereo/single din radio into the stock location by the heater controls.
I'll post up pics of the state of mine at the minute (it's all fine, no damage, just missing the necessary bracketry).

Cheers boys

i reckon all ya need is to get a wiring harness that suits the loom in your car to fit the loom that comes with the stereo, if your buying a new radio ya will get a cage with it so it should only take about 5 mins :)

i have the harness mate, that's not a problem, its the actual bracketry that i need, as it literally is a gaping hole at the moment. single din head units come with a small cage surround, but there's literally nothing in the dash to bolt it to, so it's clearly missing something.

i have about 4 head units to choose from that i can fit, just cant get any of them in at the moment :p (one of them includes a nakamichi mb75 6-disc in-dash single din changer head unit, quite a mouthful, but im gagging to fit it :D).

cheers anyway bud :) (sorted the harness for only 2quid on ebay, score).

5 mins! try 5 hours lol the whole under dash has to come out in order for the radio to be fitted, it is a painful job"

nah not worried about that mate, someone went through the effort to take it out so im not worried about having to do it to put it all back in, just dont know what i need :D

There's some pics guys.

as you can see, there aint nothing there. if i need a single din cage then i'll go and pick one up from ebay or something, just can't see where it would attach to at present (it's been a while since i faffed about with audio however).

yea the cage that came with the radio should go straight in just bend the tabs down to secure it, FIN i know exactly what ya mean, had the hardship of changing one before pain in the arse!! stupid the way ya have to dismantle nearly the whole dash just to take out the centre section :nono:

look in my threads ther is one way back its one of my first, RVM left a link ther it wil solve it for you

hm i'll have to see if any of the radios have cages on em, i'll report back :D

Theres a bracket bit that bolts onto the back of the stereo and onto that bar you can see at the back of the hole,i have this part from an old oem stereo pm me if you still need it :nice:.

As others have said it can be a real pia to fit a radio into the EK9. I went to 3 places who said they didnt fit them to this model which I thought was poor. In the end the Halfords guys at Milton Keynes sorted me as I needed a cage and other bits an bobs out they were enthusiasts and did the job in under half an hour.

I changed mine. you have to take out the bottom half of the dash out. Takes ages. Theres a thread on how to do this some where.good luck
