overheating

my civc has started 2 overheat what do i cheak??? i only live a mile from work so the car does'n get hot b4 i get there.. but when i go on a longer trip the heat gauge jus keep's goin up. i have had the car for over a year now and this has never happenend be for.. any idea's??

whould the thermostat stuck closed cause this??

I know this sounds like im taking the piss.... But is there water in it????

Beileve me it happens more often than ud think...

A jammed shut thermostat will giv u over heating probs. i think there cheap enough so its worth a try...

ya checked water it is full. when i got home i lifted the bonnet and felt the pipes. the pipe comin from the thermostat 2 the bottem of the rad was warm and the pipe from the top of the rad was hot..
