Im currently in the process of making EK sunroof delete's.....i've made up a prototype already and im getting the first 'proper one made up this week.
I was wondering how much of an interest there would be with these as im going to get a small batch made up.

They will be made from HIPS (high impact polystyrene) which means it's strong flexible and very very light.
This is available in carbon fibre 'hi gloss' effect that is also UV protected.

The design is a very simple 'tray' style unit.

Due to the shape and material you'll be able to drill through the lips of the tray and bolt it directly to the vertical guide plates on the roof skin. All that would be left to do it seal it to make it weather proof.

Here is what the fitment will be like.

Any comment/opinions are very welcome :)

Would it be possible to have one off these covering up the sunroof and then smoothed over? Like, would it be noticable etc. ?

I don't think so buddy, because it's flexible any filler on it would crack.
Maybe if you wrapped the roof after.....but i cant say how good it will look if you do that

Thanks dude, that's exactly what i was aiming for. No fuss, all function :)

No welding required. Just bolt in and seal up :)

what are the costs dude?

Hey dude!

The materials would be the main cost as due to the size i can only get one unit out of a sheet, leaving a fair bit of wastage.
Manufacturing costs and delivery (from the manufactures and then to you)
My own time as they would have excess material that i will have to trim off and the fixing holes pre-drilled to make life easier for you guys.
Then i was looking into supplying the fixings for the unit.

I'll have a much better idea after tomorrow :)

could you supply me just the fittings?

the carbon plate ive got comes with nothing

Ill be interested in this, recently taking apart the sunroof, and it is heavy! would like to get rid of the unnecessary weight :D

Thanks buddy :)

I'd have to have a close look at it to see what it needs, as i would just supply nuts, bolts and washers for these. I'd imagine 'L' shaped brackets would gave to be used for yours.

When i took mine out i was really shocked by how much it weighed!
Hopefully i'll have an update later on today :)

Just got back from the plastic place and a proper prototype will be made up by next week.

The material will now be ABS plastic with a UV film for protection. It comes with a 3 year outdoor warranty from the manufacturers too!

Here's a close up of what the carbon print looks like :)

Decide to keep these plain black or opaque black.

Had a few people say that the print looks a tad on the cheap side, which i can totally see.
