Oil advice and recommendations here!


Hi guys, What is the reason for not advising 50-60 on 4 cylinder and would this include F20?
I currently use 15W-50 for hard road and future track use in the summer. I plan to change to a 5w for winter. Does this all seem good?

Hi Chris

It completely depends on the car. If your engine is massively modified and used on track, a 15w-50 could be the best option, but in most Honda engines, the oil doesn't get hot enough to need a 15w-50. Using an oil that thick prevents it from flowing properly, causes excess oil pressure and leads to more wear. In most Honda engines, a 5w-40 is fine for all year round use.

Would be Mobil 1 5W50 (peak life) a good oil for my stock EK4? Usually only road use and 2-4 times a year a track. Thanks!

Unless you are somewhere quite hot, I would go for a 5w-40 instead.
