I will start off with saying, what an excellent site and community. I've been a lurker for the past 2 years and enjoyed reading about members cars on here. Some of the work gone into the cars is amazing!

I bought an ATR CH1 around 2 months ago. It wasn't the best of examples but the engine was decent and I was looking at getting into Honda ownership so bit the bullet and bought it.

Well, the problems didn't take long to notice and I've slowly been getting the parts to sort them out. Some oil leaks, headlights not adjusting, bushes knocking etc...

Then today the inevitable happened.

This occurred while driving at normal speeds. Came down a hill and heard a unusual noise. Saw the following and was left gobsmacked as now I'm wondering if I may need a new engine or not.

I do remember the pulley wobbling but never thought much of it. It had its belts done at 78k and now it's on 110k.

I am a sad man as my Honda ownership hasn't started off with the best of starts. If any of you can advise me on what to expect I'd appreciate it.

Other than that the car pulls hard in VTEC and drives fine.

Looking for opinions, car is currently at a garage and I will find out in the next day or two why it did what it did.

Thanks

i take it the dampening part of the pulley has separated and not the center bolt came loose? if so this is a wear and tear item and a downfall of them the rubber perishes over time and the 2 bits seperate aslong as it hasn't worn into the timing cover and made contact with the timing belt a new crank pulley and auxilarie belt should be all you need mate!

Strange for the pulley to cone loose anyway tighten it up and see if its OK if not replace it and put belt back and all should be good.

Sorry, I forgot to update this. I've had a new crank pulley fitted, however what happened to the previous one was that it had worn away at the woodruff key. I'll get some pics up tomorrow to show the damage. I guess it's occurred over time with it not being sat right.

*UPDATE*

After a long drive yesterday up from London, car decided to throw another mechanical fault. Crankshaft seal/flywheel side seal too both went on me. Resulting it in dropping a lot of oil.

I've taken it off the road and will be selling it on as I cannot afford to spend anymore money on it.

It's a shame as it's a great car.
