Hi all. Not totally new to the site but new owner of a Civic SiR as of last night. I tried posting this last night but seems not to have worked. So I took ownership of an SiR last night. Fairly clean and the arches are spot on. Has a few small issues but the main being the Speedo not working, and of course affecting VTEC. I'm told the Sensor has been replaced so hoping it's just a fuse as there's no CEL. Fingers crossed. I'll be removing the Type R stickers and painting the wheels soon. Need to raise the Suspension too.

I have seen this before, looks stunning dude an welcome to the forum

Type r stickers need to go

More pics needed man, where abouts in scotland are you from? Is your car in mph or km?

Aye it's in good nick all over. Just a few small things with bumpers need addressed. The arches seem immaculate and yes, the stickers will be going. Lol. This Speedo is top priority though. Hoping it's just a fuse. Any ideas?

It's in kms I'm assured but haven't had time to source out real proof. The dash is kms but I'm not 100% sure I can rely on that but given the condition of the arches I'm inclined to believe it is genuine. If it is, 143,000kms / 88,000miles. Am on the West Coast mate. Ayrshire.

I had the same problem in my old eg6 sir the speedo stopped working, after many hours reading into it and trying different things ect i found out it was the tab the changes it from km to mph had got water damaged and broke, took it to hypertech 1 mile from my unit and they cut and re wired it solving the problem

Ahh! Well if a simple fuse doesn't sort I might need to look into having the same done. D'you remember what they cost to do it? I'm back home on Friday and if the fuse doesn't sort I might go up on Friday or Saturday. Want it sorted ASAP. Somewhere on the side of the Country would be more convenient if anyone knows anywhere.

Took him 15 mins to sort it and didnt charge me alot cant really remember how much but was cheap

savige man love the colour of the wheels makes it stick out its also very low haha nice an ya as above get rid of the type r stickers if its an SiR there better anyway :p

Cheers Rossco. If the fuses aren't problem I'll give them a phone.

Lol. Cheers but I'm thinking of changing the wheel colour. We'll see. Aye the stickers are going. Might go back to the DOHC stickers or just blank.. I'm not sure yet. Cheers for the good words.

seen this for sale on facebook looks pretty clean will look better when raised and the stickers are off as you say :) enjoy it mate, good few meets in glasgow/edinburgh iv not been to one in a while although after winter i might

Seen this up for sale, knew someone would snatch it! Looks like a stunning civic, you have bought a stunner! Well done :)

Cheers lads. It does look good and the arches and along the sills are solid too. Hopefully no underlying gremlins. Always the same when buying a car, you worry about what you may have missed. I won't mind spending a bit on it though. Ordered a new Steering Wheel, Gearknob & Facelift Rearlights for it and should be waiting for me when I get back from working away. A trip to Funky Power to get the Kms>Mph Chip changed and raising the suspension on Friday and then on the hunt for new wheels I think. Might attend a few meets. Cheers again.

This was the problem. Can't thank you enough Rossco for making that an easy fix mate! Chuffed with that. Had a few Vacuum Hoses replaced as well as the Earthing cable and a few fuses. Apart needing some general TLC I need 1 Droplink but I'll replace the lot probably and the Coilovers are a but corroded. I was advised to leave them and replace rather than trying to adjust and chancing the threads bursting. So..

My list to bring the car to a good standard is;

Good Service. All oils and fluids.
Drop links
Coilovers (If there's an going... ;) )
Exhaust Centre Section replacement. The welding horrible and pipe diameter is too small I think.
